Eneloop on trickle charge

Hi

The rechargeable NiMH batteries in my gigaset handset look like they have finally given up after approx 3 years. I'm looking for replacements and thought of eneloops. However I'm not sure if they are fit for purpose i.e. They will always be charging on the telephone handset. Can anyone advise if they are suitable and if not what is.

Thanks

I've got 2 in my Panasonic cordless running for the past 2 years.

Current, or even half-decent, vaguely recent, cordless phones (that use NiMH batteries), don't trickle charge. NiMH batteries are only half as tolerant of it, relative to older NiCad cells.

If your phone takes separate batteries, Eneloops will likely be better than the originals that you are replacing.

If your Gigaset model (as some do) takes a two-cell shrinkwrapped pack, be aware - under the wrapping, you will find solder-tag cells.
I have soldered wires to bare battery terminals. It can be done, but it isn't fun.
