Continuing the trend of weeb games taking over Steam, here's one about the console wars where each company/system is personified by an anime girl.
This is a port of the Vita remake of the PS3 original. 71 Critic / 79 User Score on Metacritic, 93% positive on Steam. Fun game but definitely niche.
Gameplay can be described as thus:
Each turn you move one of your characters around the 3D battlefield (Movement distance depends on both the unit and their equipment) and have a certain area of attack (This differs by weapon, some weapons have longer or wider ranges than others) in which you can encase as many enemies as you can in a single combo. There are special skills and EXE drives, both of which allow for higher power attacks with varying AoEs or healing/buffs at a cost. Turn order is determined both by character stats and by the weight of your actions. Using a full strong combo, item or a powerful skill is a weighted action that can set a character's next turn back by quite a bit, whereas using a shortened combo or a set of weaker attacks will make your next turn come up much faster. There's strategy involved in how much you want each turn to pay off, how you position your characters each turn to minimize damage, and how many enemies you can clump into a single attack. Dungeons are relatively simple with no puzzles involved, no random encounters. You instead walk around and engage enemies, where there's a first strike system much like many other RPGs. Outside of dungeons the game is mostly menu and VN-esque cutscene based.
