Help Me Find a Makita Drill Kit or Combo

HI All,

Im just looking to buy a Makita drill kit that includes the battery and charger.

my budget is around $250 for the drill kit.

some sellers are only doing 1 year warranty, but some sellers says Makita includes 3 years warranty.

Im also thinking of buying a drill combo, which includes the impact driver if there is not much price difference.

Thanks heaps.

    • probably a good idea to avoid this mob. A quick search on the web reveals some pretty bad feedback for them

      • Hence my comment below about their online service. Store service is fine.

  • +1

Makita produce products (what else would they produce) at different levels from home handy man to professional. I would hazard to suggest that the home handy man would possibly have a lower warranty than the professional products.

Also hardware store (like the models you might only find @ Bunnings) only products might also have a lower warranty period.

I bought my bundle from Sydney Tools physical store, as opposed to online. Some people have had mixed results on the customer service front when ordering from online, so if you can get into store, then I'd suggest it.

I actually bought https://sydneytools.com.au/makita-maktrade3001x2-18v-lxt-li-…, but maybe the dbun1 linked item might be fit for your purpose.

Either way, to ensure you get the most from your investment I'd try to aim for 18V, and the largest battery capacity your budget can stretch to.

  • hi @dandandan, yes i've considered bosch, and green colour is for light duty, blue colour is better from what i recall , but out of my budget.

hi @pax, I live in Melbourne, but definitely will get the 18volts.

i've found this link to be usefull:

I'll probably have to stretch out my budget to get the general purpose.

this link is a bit old from ebay:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/gds/MAKITA-BL1830-BL1815-18V-BATTERY-…

Im still hoping for a promo on makita drills soon.

  • I am in the market for some as well but don't think I need the trade version as just a home user, do you need the trade version?

The Bosch one's are 18v and 4.0ah battery.

    • Hi dandandan,

I am a home user, but do quite a bit of work, rather than the odd job (victim of recently buying a house), so the better device was attractive.

The 3.0ah battery for me was attractive as it means the wife could go and pick one up and be fairly confident it will have enough charge for her to use without issue.

  • does it have to be makita? I'm quite impressed with my hitachi.

Use the notification emails on here using the term "drill". I got emails with no false positives

  • Hi pax, I am a home user too and do a fair bit of work around the house (also victim of buying a house in Dec 12). I have the Ozito one however it is fairly weak, well when drilling into bricks etc it is. The Bosch one has a 4.0ah battery so it should last longer than a 3.0ah one. I watched the video on the Makita one's and the low end to mid range Makita one's seemed to have around the same maximum Torque as these 18V Bosch one's. I was planning on getting it today as one of the weekends job's is putting up a TV bracket into the brick wall on my deck.

Would be interested if anyone else can recommend a similar package as the Bosch for around the same price or a bit more is fine, probably no more than $300 for a combo set.
