Bought eBay item, paid with PayPal but no money left my account

a few days ago i bought a HTC one M8 off ebay for $260 i paid with paypal.
the payment went through but today i found out that i used the wrong card to make payment
normally your account would of been overdrawn but on my account it has the correct money direct debited then right after it has that money going back into my account.
(that's a ING card i don't use anymore but still open)

I just signed onto my paypal account and it's showing the payment as completed.
whats even more weird is that the guy shipped the item and i have it here with me now.

on my account it shows two things first one for the direct debit and second it says reversal with the same amount going back into my account.
so right now it's not overdrawn.

can anyone help me whats happened.?

is their system just slow? will my account be overdrawn by that amount in a few days?

    yep
    ur ING account is most likely overdrawn
    meaning you might get charges!
    so add money fast!

    unless ur ING account doesn't allow for overdraws, so call them up

    ING does allow for accounts to be overdrawn

    And they give you 3 days to fix it before you incur charges.

    Normally you get an email from customer.alerts@ing telling you it is overdrawn and to hurry up and fix it

      for small amounts, < $300 i think. but it is at their discretion

    I got en email from pay pal saying my account was overdrawn by that amount.
    so i just added that amount to my papal account.

    Usually Paypal then takes the money from your back up (bank/credit card) account.

    Likely the seller would have got a message from ebay showing payment made - so just went ahead and posted it. Doubt the money got to his account.

    Not sure if paypal make multiple attempts, but there probably is some leeway.
    Multiple offenders would be flagged.

      Ive never had this problem before as it normally doesn't go through if funds isnt in my account.

      it's not a few dollars this was $263 when my bank account had like 40 cents in it as it was un used.
