Sygic seems to be having their sale again.

As the title says. Australian maps are AUD 46.64, World maps are AUD 70.55 (as per Google conversion).

Read reviews about the app here:

Looking at old historical ozbargain threads… apparently there is a referral code for a further 25% off?
If anyone has one of those I'll be happy to add that to this thread.

  • Pity Telstra limits the max transaction to be $20..

How does this compare to the new Nokia Here maps?
Offline maps for any country in the world and also navigation.

I'm using both and can say Here+ is faster and easier. But Sygic has feature that warning you about speed camera and railway, also has some feature to show which lanes you should use

Here doesn't have map of Japan, but it's free. Can't complain.

I use Here and am very happy with it. For a free app it's impressive, and I've now ditched TomTom which I paid for.

Here is now in the Play Store, so you don't need to download it from that link any more.

      • Used to love the Nokia Maps on my old Nokia phones, being able to save the maps was great.
Started to use Here when it was released for Android but need to use it a bit more

  • Sygic is best offline gps app, the only app provide lane assistance as far as i know.

    • but I dont find the lane guidance that useful tho…how are you finding it?

      • i find it very useful in city, it shows you which lane you should run before next turn.

        • sorry I was trying to say it's not very accurate…

        • +1

no gps app have 100% accurate, you have to accept it just a guide.
          nothing is perfect, isnt it?

        • @homersyd: I find it very accurate, of course there are GPS signal issues in high rise areas which will affect accuracy.

  • And you can use homer's voice with this

I got Sygic late last year and really like it.
The railway crossing warnings are great as I drive out in the country a lot.
Lane guidance is good, love the speed camera alerts on the Ring Road (Vic).
Has photos of places of interest as you approach and I assume people have submitted them, but they are way too small to see on the phone as you are driving.
Homers voice is a crack up.
Snoop dog is crap and a waste of money.

    • I recently tested the trial version and the speed camera alerts seem to be a bit off (tested via Monash freeway and inner city speed cameras). The alerting wasn't consistent (i.e. came on too early or not at all) compared to my in-car GPS.

That's really the only issue I had with this app other than that all other features were better than my in-car GPS.

I've heard some recommendation for CoPilot but I don't think there's a trial version. If anyone could comment it would be much appreciated

  • I use CoPilot GPS on Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alk.copilo… for off line maps with GPS.

  • I find it amusing that they have Samsung as phone picture, as you get free Navigon with Samsung phones.

Oh and Hyori is the hottest thing in the mid 2000s.

    • but navigon is kinda like "homebrand" compared to sygic tho….i mean features wise it's got all the bells and whistles. As to whether you need most of that, that's another question…

    • Navigon does not compare.

  • Also, Sygic just released a Windows Phone app:
    http://www.windowsphone.com/s?appid=340f7b71-86bc-4f99-8c59-…

  • For those who are looking to buy…
You can get a further 25% discount with the code REF9195JTLHUP7671

  • If I get this map, can I use it on both my iPhone and android tablet? or I need another license for the iPhone?

    • I think one license supports up to 5 devices?

  • Hey does any one know how to use the referral discount to buy the iOS app?

    • The app should be free on the store?
You actually buy the map license key at their website…
That's where you enter the referral discount.

  • Bugger, was hoping to use discounted Google Play credit to make it even cheaper. Guess I'll be sticking with Navigon for now.
