I had a similar thought a few days ago when I went to my local Red Rooster that use to do 2 classic quarters for $10 but changed to 2 classic roast for $15. They've had a banner with the deal out for ages and seems it's available most of the time so it's not too bad if you're feeding an even number of people.
I actually went to RR because everything else seemed expensive. Meals at Mc Donalds, KFC, Subway are all around the $10 mark these days. Even a chook from the supermarkets are pretty close to that price (granted it's a full chook minus sides).
Even the 'get a small chips and drink free with a Big Mac', the burger itself is over $5. Use to be ~$2.50 from when I was a kid so even now just for the burger it seems excessive.
My point is while Red Rooster seems expensive from a decade or 2 ago, but so does every fast food place unless you go for dollar menus or something, which isn't that appealing too often.
But yeah at the prices all the fast food places are at now I think I'm just going to pay an extra $5 and get something nice like something from this list. Granted that price is for the burger alone but I'm fine with that.
Damn……those burgers look soooo good.
North Lakes Red Rooster - The only place who hasn't stuffed up my meal one way or another
Also available at Carlton & Maroubra (Sydney).
Happy to spend a few bucks more than maccas for something that actually qualifies as food ;-)
Dont get me wrong, Red Rooster tastes ok. But do they realize how rediculously overpriced there food is? I mean $12 save 42%. They should bring the price of thier food back down to reality. Its is usually, suprisingly, very average quality food at most of the Red Roosters I have gone to, which is crazy considering the price and lack of value for money. I am saying this as an old RR fan from back when they had space shuttle shaped kids meal containers in the early 80's and WAY before they even came to QLD. Please get your act together Red Rooster. Australia is red red ready red ready for you to realise a chook from woolies is a way cheaper and very comparable option to RR. Still gets a plus from me though. Id LOVE to see RR make an epic comeback and steal back some market share in Aus.
Its just way too expensive to fill your tummy there, especially if you have a hungry family.
