How to know if the phone is compatible with your carrier:

If you are with Verizon, Sprint, or any carrier that do not use a sim card you need to buy their own phones, that means if you are with Verizon you need to buy a Verizon phone and our listing has to say Verizon phone, an unlocked phone won't work with those service providers.
If your carrier is a GSM carrier (they use sim card) you need to call and talk to their tech support or click on below link to find out what frequency band they are using, then check out listing to make sure the phone covers those frequencies, if you carrier is operating on more than one frequency (like AT&T 1900Mhz and 850Mhz) the phone has to cover both the bands otherwise you might not get any signal.

  • Almost pulled the trigger on this one, but once the currency exchange is done it's really not as cheap as some of the Hong Kong based eBay listings.

Appears to be the D800 model (from the LTE Bands listed) which means the following according to GSM Arena
    2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
    3G bands HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
    4G bands LTE 700 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 (Bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 17)

So this will make a pretty decent Telstra Wholesale phone and an OK Telstra 4G phone (will only have access to the new 4GX parts of the network)
Not really any good for either Vodafone or Optus.. You could getaway with it on Vodafone provided you were happy to have a few spotty reception areas.

<insert witty comment about Vodafone coverage here>

Isn't the 700mhz band 28 and not 17 in Australia, I don't see that band mentioned.
Band 17 700mhz is for ATT in USA and Rogers in Canada.

So no 4g anything for Telstra.

I bought an 802T last week, $300 aid for local refurb with warranty.
300 from HK is a better deal IMO, why list in USD without shipping?

    • Deal includes shipping.

  • Seems like a decent deal compared to the mid range phones posted lately. For around an extra $50 you get FHD display, fast CPU and fast GPU, with specs pretty much identical to the Nexus 5.

    • Also no MicroSD card slot :( but at least it is 32GB built in.

As long as you don't want 4g service.

I'm pretty content with 3g tbh
I stream and torrent over 1mb/s on 3g

Pretty sad when your phone data speed is faster than your home ADSL

    • You certainly don't know the history and relationship between g2 and nexus5

        Please do enlighten us.

  • Damn it. Just bought the moto g the other day as :-\

Moto G (2nd gen?) will probably get OS updates long after this.

      • Yeah, got the DS one so Will hopefully get updates for some time.

This one is basically $305 (currency conversion + oversea transaction credit card charge - cashback) for a LG G2 with incompatible 4G. So, is the better / bigger screen, better camera, faster CPU, more RAM, 4X more phone storage space (but without microSD support), NFC, infra red (I think LG G2 has infra red) worth the price difference?

      • When you put it like that then yes :-)
Then again it's for the missus so it probably wouldn't matter all that much to her…

  • Us model mostly non compatible with Australian networks no deal I think.

  • Sorry, cheaper available at US$ 210

This is also D800. No idea about the compatibility with AU networks, but @scubacoles posted some relevant info in comment #2.

Mate, if you add the delivery cost, isn't it the same? In fact, your link goes to the same eBay item.

    • Yikes! My bad. Didn't look carefully :(

  • I don't know much about the bands but this would be for my mum and she only uses 3g. Would there be any differences in voltage ?

  • Are speakers the only real advantage over an HTC One M7? The cameras better, the screens bigger, its cheaper.
