A118C Capacitor Dash Cam $65.63 USD Delivered @Gearbest.com

40
GBA118C

It's currently listed as $73.53 USD without the code.

A118C 1.5 inch H.264 1080P Full HD Car DVR Dash Cam 170 Degree Wide Angle Lens Video Recorder.

Look at the A118C and you'll notice it's strangely shaped but it's designed that way for a good reason. Unlike standard dash cams, it comes without a mount, and adheres directly to the windscreen for stealth. This makes the A118C car DVR appear as if it's a standard car part, perfectly blending in with the rest of the interior for discreet mounting. It can also be mounted higher up on the windshield so only the lens is visible from the outside on close inspection. In addition, the A118C is also jet black making it blend in even further.

Main Features:
Capacitor instead of battery
Novatek 96650 chipset
170 degree wide angle lens
HD1080P high-definition seamless cycled recording, no second leakage
Use the hidden mode, match the rearview mirror of the vehicle perfectly, not block the line of sight
Support high capacity TF cards (up to 32G)
Advanced H.264 photography compression technology
Allow the camera to swing upwards, downwards, leftwards, and rightwards, and take photos from different angles
Distortionless high-definition photographing device, high-definition images, no image tails
Record the images by using the H.264 compression mode
Provide locking protection for multiple important segments, thus preventing important segments from being overwritten
Built-in G-sensor, capable of saving and locking the video recording data automatically in case of collisions
Support the mobile detection function
Support AV-OUT

    Bought this last time.

Died a few months after for no apparent reason. Now trying to get gb to cover it for warranty (Lol)…..

    • damn, let us know how it goes..i was a bee's dicklength away from buying this exact one from them a few nights ago. this news is a bit concerning especially after all the good reviews i herd about this camera too.

      • The G1W series of cameras has lost favour with a number of people due to fakes and poor quality control.

        • Have read some bad feedback on C model but any here has problems with the H model?

        • @delfredo: I don't follow the g1w models very closely so couldn't tell you if the H is better than the C. Although I'm not a fan of any dash camera with a battery, which the H has.

Capacitor cams are best in Aus conditions. The mobius with capacitor is pretty good, but only buy from an authorised seller, and early reports on the A118c look good, but it is a newish model so only time will tell.

        • Gearbest don't sell the fake version of it though? I don't see many people saying any negatives about the G1W-C, this is one of the first bad things I've heard said about it (there's always going to be a few issues with any electronics, even all the big brands have issues with a certain % of products).

        • @Porthos: The main comments I've read about the C is that the date and time settings go off after a few days and you need to set them again. I'm not sure how widespread this problem is.

I prefer the H only for the reason that in case of a collision where the engine might shut down, the cam can continue to record for another 10 minutes or so. May prove to be valuable in some specific circumstances (eg. capture the scene immediately after the accident).

Guess that's just one of the few trade offs with regards to having a capacitor compared to a battery. I've never had this happened myself though, but the longest I've had it without driving the car is about 4-5 days.

With how hot our summers get, and then in turn how much hotter the inside of car's get, I can't see a battery lasting much longer than a single summer in Australia. Then I'd imagine the dashcam would become useless (with regards to not saving the date and time or being able to record at all once the power shuts down).

If they made easy user replaceable battery packs for it (which were cheap) then it wouldn't be an issue, but until they can guarantee a battery to last 'x' number of years in one I wouldn't bother.

        • You can get genuine ones from here

      • I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not too hopeful though given that I would need to send the item back to china for repairs. At minimum this would take over 2 months.

I suppose its a disadvantage to buy from gearbest.

        • I have one and its survived 2 months. Hoping for a year at least…

It's the problem with a lot of Chinese sellers that don't have an AU warehouse, and even some that do.

You pay less, but if something goes wrong it can be a pain trying to fix the problem.

Please put the direct link to the item as the deal link and add your tracking link to the description.

    • I tried replacing the deal link with your link and it's still being tricky.

If I hover my mouse over the link it shows as the correct address, and takes me to the correct adress when I'm logged in to Ozbargain. If I'm logged out, it is taking me to the tracking link.

      • @mircosnot, mapax

If you are logged in to OzBargain the link is direct.

If you are not logged in to OzBargain, the link with be affiliated.

        Nothing to do with OP.

        See here

        • Thanks. I thought it may have been something like that but wasn't sure.

  • I have had the A118 for about 3 months now and I m happy with it. Been wanting to get another one for the rear window.

  • Just a heads up, bought two from GB, and one of them was out of focus.

Seems to be a few floating around like this, too much hassle returning…..

  • ~$96AUD delivered with expedited shipping. Pretty happy with that, as the non-capacitor models on eBay aren't much cheaper from Australian sellers. I'll give this fella a go anyway. Thanks OP.
