Would you ask for a doggy bag?

A mate went on a first date with a foodie who ordered a tonne of dishes, which they only ended up eating around 30% of. Since he was an Ozbargainer AND was paying, he kept on thinking whether he should ask for a doggy bag but eventually didn't.

I told him he should have since the two of them were so different it was unlikely to progress to a second date. They never went on a second date.

What would you have done?

Wowwww……Just a joke waterlogged :P Didn't expect it to be read into that much. I guess you could say there is no moral to the story but I still regret not eating the damn whopper.

Mayb the op can contact him/her and ask if she also wanted to take the food, otherwise all these ozbargainers will wonder forever

Moral of the story is… never mind where did you leave that whopper!

If he was a true ozbargainer… then take the doggie bag.

Ultimately that is who they are - and the prospective partner will/would eventually learn that

Show your cards day 1 and if they think it is a good idea.. then you may have met a match. If they are standoffish about it - you probably aren't progressing anyway.

if you simply want to lie to get into the sack (but still remain an ozbargainer)… just mentioned that you environmental values don't let you waste food. She'll find you out eventually - but at least you might have got some hipster-generated bedroom action

There's another option the friend could have taken.

Be chivalrous and practical by offering the date all of the dishes to take home.

    Eg.
"I watched you all night. You seem to enjoy tonight's dishes. We've so much left and it seems such a terrible waste for such yummy food. I can arrange for the waiter to pack these up for you to bring home."

It would also provide additional interaction on the date. The lady would reveal how appreciative or unappreciative she is of the thoughtful gesture.

I thing the guy missed an opportunity to express his opinion and opportunity to take charge of the situation. If nothing is learnt and nothing changes then don't be surprised if the same situation happens again to OP's friend.

  • Silly Billy. He should have asked to take the uneaten food home.

  • Surely once you have paid for the food it becomes your property. Should you not want to consume it all then & prefer to take some home for either next days lunch or give to the dog or give to a homeless person then that is your prerogative with your goods.
