Looking for TV/DVD Combo at Good Price

Hi I am looking for a dvd/tv combo for my teen daughter for her birthday. Preferably one that can play from usbs. Cheapest I have found so far is $299 from Dick Smith.

  • If you're happy with refurbished then $229;

    Or have a look at Gumtree if it doesn't have to be brand new. I would personally recommend 40" FHD LED, separate Blu-ray player and Logitech Z623 to replace the tinny sound that you get from any TV. Or if you don't have a better setup for yourself, buy it instead, but go for at least 48" for yourself.

    • Thanks. The JB one looks ok. I was going for combo as she doesn't have much room and we have had endless problems with separate dvd players

      • If you go with a Blu-ray, which isn't much more than a DVD player, you just need one cord (HDMI) to hook it up to the TV. But don't buy your HDMI cord from the retailer. They will try to sell you a $40 or $50 cable when a $5 will suffice. HDMI is a digital signal. It either works or it doesn't. There is no enhancement possible, despite what snail oil salesman will tell you.

        • ok thanks

          @alwaysis: an inbuilt one can also die. the recommendation of an separate machine may save you that pain. but then you may get a good one that lasts. my 24" soniq wiht inbuilt DVD is good. though admittedly I have very few DVDs as everything is on a 2tb portable HDD. the soniq plays every format I have thrown at it.

    You can also check out JVC LT-32DE74 32" & Proscan PLDV321300 32" available at lower prices.

    Although 32" is a decent size for bedroom, you can also go for 50"-60" for living room as a big TV is always wonderful to watch.
