The New 3DS has a second control nub, which is used mainly for camera control. Even though it sounds like a perfect match to the game, it won't recognise this as an input. Note that the game was a launch (or near) title for the 3DS.
The game will still work, it's just that the nub won't. Sorry for wording it weirdly.

Funny thing is that I also got it for $10 at JB. I feel that $10 could've been spent on a better game, but oh well.
@silverrat23: I'm actually considering returning it now. I bought it assuming it was the first game, not chaos theory which I already own on XBL.

I have Splinter Cell 3D and it's rubbish. If you love Splinter Cell Blacklist, you will hate Splinter Cell 3D. It does not have the same feel of progression and guidance as the far superior Blacklist.
Movement is handled with the circle pad and aiming with the ABXY buttons.
Also, the game does not support the circle pad pro, nor the New 3DS.
