Not sure if this should be here but here so please move if necessary. Have a relative that just moved to Sydney and was asking for some internet and mobile plan recommendations.
Requirements
Internet:
- High speed, unlimited.
Mobile:
- Has iPhone. Needs 5-10gb of data. Makes 100 calls and 50 texts per month.
- Needs mobile phone. Needs 2gb of data. Makes 100 calls and 50 texts per month. Doesn't really need a specific phone so not sure if Kogan & SIM only plan or a contract works out better.
Non-contract or 12 month plans are preferred, but 24 is okay too.
Thanks in advance.
Firstly, you haven't supplied nearly enough information… as a result, the advice is fairly generic.
ADSL speed depends on your distance from the exchange - TPG is probably the most popular budget ISP and they do offer Unlimited plans.
If you have the option to access Telstra Cable, then that's your best bet for guaranteed speed, but they don't offer unlimited.
Assuming City coverage only, so looking more at Optus/Vodafone than Telstra offerings
Phone plans with lots of data are really expensive… you'd be better off buying a Pocket WiFi device for data and getting a cheaper plan for the phone.
Really depends what level handset you want/need.
Cheapest would be to buy a prepaid or older model unlocked handset* and go with a Prepaid provider like Vaya or Telechoice.
(*There's some pretty decent value former flagship phones that pop up as deals here from time to time.)
Virgin offer some of the better value Phone+Plan deals as a general rule.
