I'm planning to make a purchase on either the new coolpix P530 or the D3200. I have no experience with these cameras as I just want to upgrade from my point and shoot cannon portable camera.
I'm still a little confused on the difference of a DlSR and DLS camera, any recommendations would be appreciated. both models have a large price difference and it seems the p530 has a better zoom.
Cheers.
P530 is not a DSLR (ie Digital SLR where SLR = Single Lens Reflex) camera while D3200 is. Read http://www.takebetterphotos.com.au/articles-digital-SLR.html where P530 is like a compact camera with zoom lens.
Ultimately it all depends on what you want do. THe cheaper option is definitely the P530 but if you love photography and have been wanting to do more with a camera then D3200 is the choice to go. DSLR are getting so affordable and so easy to use that literally anyone can be a good photographer.
In choosing a DSLR camera, I personally recommend Nikon or Canon.
