We just finished the OzBargain Zeitgeist 2014.
Things of interest:
- Resurgence of Catch of The Day & Myer Deals. People certainly don't equate Myer with bargains unless it's Boxing Day.
- Favourite thread of the year: HELP a fellow ozbargainer stuck in Shanghai getting home!!!
- 2nd favourite: OzBargain acquired by CatchoftheDay. Mostly because so many people got sucked in.
- This guy who tried to make $30,000+ from the eBay 50% BBQ promotion
- People using Chrome is at 49.06% (up 9%), Firefox now down to 14.18% (down 3.6%).
- 20,951 reports. Average 1 report every 25 minutes.
- I'm sure there is some statistical reason but wonder why around 20% of all deals posted make the front page (20 votes or more).
My predictions from last year:
- Amazon to retain their place or move down 1 or 2 spots. CORRECT
- Kindle books to probably move up in the list. WRONG
- Udemy to go to the top 5. WRONG
- Amazon.co.uk to drop off the top 20. CORRECT
Well, 2 out of 4. I think in 2015, Amazon is going to drop out of the top 5.
Any forum threads, deals, events etc stand out for you? Predictions for 2015?
Wow, that's a lot.
I agree because of the exchange rate.
