1080

Got this in my email - this weekend only

Free BBQ spatula with any purchase (someone figure out what the cheapest item is)…

but considering degreaser is back down to $1… hopefully we can spend super cheap credits for a 'purchase' to claim the spatula…

I never keep my SC/BCF/Rays/etc. cards… just need to make sure your mobile is correct and they'll process it.

      • cool thanks!

        • yep confirmed… i never carry my card. just give your mobile.

Should have posted this as well. Got even more votes than my other post. :)

  • This is ozbargain in a nutshell.

Everytime I hear that nutshell quote I think of Austin Powers pretending to be in a nutshell :).

  • The beach shelter in that email is not bad.

Nice I'm having a BBQ on Sunday this weekend! PERFECT TIMING!

  • Cheapest thing I've found is a plastic number for 10 cents:

Then take the number back for a refund …free spatula

    • Where is the location at the shop for the tag numbers?

  • Thanks OP! I have about $2 credit. So 2 bottles of degreaser and a spatula for zero dollars!

Let's hope they don't pull a RS Component stunt and just reject customers

    • ? I've always gone in to get my weekend freebie from super cheap.

Side story: A while ago, I was 4WD around Australia, and they were giving out a bucket and sponge out with any purchase… I happened to be in Alice Springs that weekend - yep I claimed it… never too much degreaser :)

    • Funny you mention RS, I received today the free socket set I had already forgotten about from an order back in mid November.

      • Had you received a cancellation email?

        • No, wasn't aware of any drama until this thread.

      • They tried delivering mine today also so its at the depot, happy RS have honoured their deal.

      • That's good to hear that those who managed to snag theirs I was sick of waiting and their staff told me it was a matter of bad luck.

  • Thank heaps. Just bought a BBQ from Aldi.
    They didn't have a spatula!

  • Is the $5 club membership fee for life or annual?

    • +2

      For life.

      Definitely worth it.

    • Once off for life per person

    • +1

Definetely worth it. And you get a $10 voucher for your next spend. Its like FREE money. Luckily SCA is usually the cheapest for things I buy (oil, filters etc.) so its a WIN WIN. And you dont' have to keep receipts as its on your proof of purchase is on your account (that's what sold me as I lose all my maintenance receipts for tax)

    • yep, and a couple of times now Ive bought things and theyve been cheaper soon after and got automatic credit to my account for future use. definitely worth getting.

  • I just bought one at Aldi… Hm… Do i still have the docket?

  • +1

    Get one of these..

And then use the spatula to pick your kid up off the ground.

    Got one today: http://i.imgur.com/CzWTp5u.jpg
    Limited 1000 per store

    • is it worth the trip?

      • If you need it, but you need to spend $10 or more with your club+ card

        • Doesnt say that in any t&c?

"Free BBQ spatula with ANY purchase"

        • @abc:
Old mate in the store told me. I firstly bought 2 cans of tyre shine @$4.50 each but I asked for the BBQ Spatula and he said u need to spend $10+ to get it as they are limited so i grabbed an extra can for the free gift :)

          @Linkiepoo:

thats bullcrap. I wonder if stores set their own rules. Shoukd show them the email lol. Do they not know the meaning of "any purchase"?

        • He saw you coming. I only spent $1.00 on degreaser - got the spatula.

        • It's plastered everywhere that it's free with any purchase. Time to complain to head office. Hopefully get $5/$10 store credit.

        • @abc:

I had to wait, 24 minutes at the cash registers as it was very busy

        • +1

          24mins wait is crazy.

If they say spend $10 report them to H/O. At the very least it will make Head Office make it clear to the stores next time.

          From their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/scauto):
Steve G…: "What if i just buy a drink."
Supercheap Auto: "Then you'll get a free spatula if you're a Club Plus Member and purchase the item in store"

        • +1

@daydream: more like another grub manager trying to weasel out of a freebie promotion.

@Linkiepoo: would you mind telling us what store you went to?

        • +1

          @tdw:

Are staff at that store keeping for themselves? They must be a bunch of dogs to withold a promotional ("worth" $5.99 more like $0) item.

I bought some $5.99 earplugs, had $5 price guarantee credit. Paid 99c and checkout said "you get a free spatula today as you're a club plus member". Didnt even have to ask.

        • @abc: who knows what their reasoning/excuses are. but i get this crap a lot when i'm redeeming freebies. they'll make up any bs to save themselves from handing it over, even if you refute or prove them wrong like when they make up false conditions of purchase. when they still flat out refuse, the only way to get even is to call head office.

  • Picked one up today just droped in on my morning walk, got one can of degreaser $1.00 spend she scaned my members card and the girl said here's your free gift and I said awesome thanks and I was out of there.

    • Was your store packed with people?

      • Yes they were pretty busy bit of a line up at the cash registers worth the wait, and now bacon and eggs on the the barbie for lunch to test out my new toy.

  • +1

Bought a carabiner - it was ninety-nine cents!

    • i got mine with a tent peg

  • Told today…..
They got an email……not allowed to give them out in WA.

    Bullcrap or genuine.??

    • +1

Did you see that email? Did they tell you what reason the email gave? Cos I'd be inclined to think your bs-ing you

      • they're bs-ing you. you can't bs yourself amirite? ;)

        • I bs myself all the time about how I just going to check out OzB but not buy anything.
