3G Tablet - Which Prepaid Provider?

Just purchased a Kogan Agora HD Mini 3G Tablet https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/agora-hd-mini-3g-tablet/

Can anyone recommend who to use for prepaid mobile data? No Wifi where I live. I am inclined to go with Telstra or a Telstra Reseller for the superior coverage and the fact it will be mainly used for quality Skype/Viber video calls.

Really want a bargain approach to how much I spend. Any suggestions?

  • if you want the bargain approach, tether or share wireless from your phone and up the data on your phone accordingly to deal with tablet and phone use. ALDI Mobile is reasonable, I's sure there's cheaper though.

    • Unfortunately my phone only has 200MB on an old TPG plan, so this isnt an option.

  • Boost all the way, now with extra 500megs (extended till march now) to take it to 3 gig a month and unlimited calls etc on the Telstra 3g network for $40 a month.. Been quite impressed in country areas too..Goodluck..

    • Telstra direct will do 4GB/month for $50 - which works out to be 2GB/month for $25.

I would consider this a better deal than Boost unfortunately.

  • Don't know how patchy Optus coverage is where you live, but as your tablet can only deliver 3g I highly recommend Amaysim. It piggybacks off the Optus network and is $10 for a gig.

For me it's been rock solid.

    • Average 3G covereage with Optus unfortunately, I need the quality signal for international skype calls.

if you must get a second sim.

I'd up your phone plane to an 30$ + per month to get 1.5Gb or more - Aldi is telstra and 35$ gets you 2Gb and more calls and texts than you can use. Add another Gb for 10$ automatically when you berak through 70% of your 2GB.

    • Optus network unfortunately.

  • Is your tablet Telstra 850 3G compatable? If not, then don't go Telstra!

    • 2G Network (MHz) 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
      3G Network (MHz) 850 / 1900 / 2100

      Loosk good to me….

  • The savvy frequencies are: L1800, U900 /L850
The savvy network is as referenced$100/$80 15gb year

    However you'll likely pay more.

    • Vodafone coverage is even worse where I live :(
