Best deal for a camera under $200 (ideally canon ixus)

Just seeing if anybody has seen any good deals for a camera recently. I am in market for a new camera and I don't wanna spend more than $200. Ideally Canon Ixus as that's the one we have been using for a while. I had a look at ebay it doesn't seem that you will get a good price there.

    Goblin, where are you located?

If you are in Melbourne then Computer Parts and Land(CPL) have the Canon IXUS 80IS advertised in the Greenguide for $199. If you take this advertisement to Officeworks they have a policy where they will not only match the price but beat it by 5% if they can verify the stock on hand by calling the local phone number that the competitor provides. CPL has a local contact number as well as physical shopfronts in West Melbourne, Nottinghill and Highpoint which should pose minimum fuss to get the price match. This means that the camera can be had for around $190 which I think is an excellent price for what is arguably one of the best value compacts on the market at this point in time. If you call up one of the Officeworks stores and they are not in stock they should be able to tell you which stores do have them. This camera is still advertised on the Officeworks website. As for the CPL advertisement the link is as follows: http://www.cpl.net.au/greenguide/20091020-1.pdf

    Hope this helps

  • thanks for that. I am located in Sydney. When I looked around it did seem that Canon IXUS 80IS is good value for money. However, it seemed that most retailers are out of stock as it is no longer available. Thanks for the advert. I might give it a go this thursday night.

  • IXUS 80 on sale for $190 at JB Hifi in DFO South Wharf.
City software $209 free shipping and camera bag

  • Damn. It seems like Sydney doesn't get any good deal. DFO South Wharf seems pretty cool. DFO at sydney is pretty much for clothes. Thanks again

  • Anyone know if we can get this camera for under $200 in Sydney???

  • Mwave still have this deal for $199 with 4GB SD and case: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/16323 (but no pickup?)

Otherwise, does $199 count at these Sydney computer/IT shops?
    http://www.penta.com.au/template.php?seqid=57521
    http://www.tigersdirect.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=84_643… ($196+$5 pickup fee)

…If I were you I'd show any of the above to Officeworks to get their price beat deal… then it'd be $189 or so!

  • thanks for that. I'll go to office works tommorrow with all of the above adverts and hopefully they can match it and give it for $190.
I'll let you guys know how I went.

  • Found another one:

$206 (including shipping) includes 2GB card and a leather case.
    http://www.crazysales.com.au/canon-ixus-80-is-powershot-sd11…

I'll take this one and the mwave add to officeworks and see if they can match it.

    • Just be wary that usually the price beat policy says it has to be available locally not on the internet… so maybe penta and tigersdirect is your better bet as far as what to take into officeworks.

  • I had a look today. Myer (sydney) had the canon ixus 80 for $206 + they we give 4 free movie tickets with it. So, this is probably not a bad deal considering the movies are worth atleast $40. So, I might end up getting it from myer. Just wondering whether Myers do price matching.

  • The latest deal i posted had 25$ of all compact cameras a teds
