What to add to get to $35.- and not pay shipping?

A plane ticket to America is your only chance of getting free shipping this deal.

    • http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000977131 (cheap stuff under $1 on Amazon.com)

      • Free shipping is only for the USA.
Even after adding those cheap stuff, he still has to pay shipping and probably more than 5.05 USD!

        • Well that ruins a lot of fun!

        • and US customers should pay extra 2.90 USD but not us. It makes it just ~2.15 USD more expensive for us.

Got one of these last time. Really good value.

Is it just mine or is the plastic slider on these things incredibly stiff? I do feel like I am going to break it one day.

you're lucky, at least yours closes with force. mine doesn't close at all

      • +2

Mine fell off! Good, fast drive though

    • agreed, i got one of these a while back and the protective cover is terrible, super stiff to the point where I was questioning whether its meant to open and close.

If anyone wants the 64gb version the silicon valley drive is better as it has better speeds and lifetime warranty. There is a 128gb drive available but it's a bit more than this $35 deal:

Does anyone remember the time when a 128MB USB stick was the latest and greatest? I remember paying like $100 for a transcend 128 MB stick in the early 2000s.

    • I have a Dell 128gb stick on my desk in front of me…and a 64mb version laying around somewhere. Edit: just found the 64GB version… they even still have the lids. :)

Whats even more amazing is even the 128GB stick could hold as much as 88 1.44mb floppies. :)

      • I remember paying out the nose for a 16mb MMC card for my Nokia 3650.

I was shooting on flash drives when people were still using digital cameras that took floppy discs!

      • I think you got your GB and MB confused.

        • +1

I sure did…. gb mb mb gb GB MB Mb GB…… doh!

But yeah… 128MB and 64mb drives on my desk. :)

  • So out of curiosity what is the appeal of this for AU$50 vs say a slim portable 750GB/1TB HDD for $60-$80? Is it purely due to how much smaller a flash drive is or is there more to it?

This is a genuine question as I am tossing up between both that I mentioned above. Are people happy to forego the extra space for something they can just shove in their pocket?

    • It's purely the size and convenience factor.

      • Awesome, thanks. I wasn't sure if I was missing something like read/write speeds etc.

        • Also many devices won't take portable hard drives but they would be ok with a stick…

  • Apart from the plastic slider a little flimsy for this USB drive, how's the quality of PNY stuff?

    • So far so good. slider wont close properly and so i just leave it open permanently, but the rest of the stick looks/feels sturdy enough. The speeds are great for the price and the size always ends up baffling anyone who comes across it.

    • Speeds are decent, though compared to brand-name models like a SanDisk Extreme, Lexar JumpDrive or the latest Kingston DataTravelers, they are noticeably slower, particularly when copying small files.

I've had issues with the PNY taking a heck of a long time to be detected and intialised when it's first plugged in; as well being difficult to "Safely Remove" as I kept getting "Device in use" messages.

Never saw my SanDisk Extreme or Patriot Supersonic XT take more than 5 seconds to be detected.

My overall impression is of a cheap and budget-tier USB drive, but considering a premium 128GB costs around $100 or more, something's gotta give to get this capacity on the cheap.

  • Very tempted but can't really think of any need of it.

  • Back up to $47.99 USD for me…

  • Damn! $47.99 for me too, looks like it's expired
