Thanks for pointing it out. I have to check myself if this is indeed true.

This is the case with all third party keyboards on the iOS.
It can be avoided by not allowing 'full access' to the application. However, this defeats the purpose of the app because 'full access' is required to translate the text.
Allowing access to what you type is required to detect what you type and what you wish to translate. However, as the permission is not selective it can possibly collect other information as well. Simple way to avoid this? Switch back to another keyboard once you've finished translating stuff.

You have the option to turn it on & off. Please correct me if i am wrong, i think developers can only acces to the text that you would like to translate when this app is switched on.

It would need that access though to actually work wouldn't it?

True. The developer discusses the privacy issues raised above in their privacy policy http://goo.gl/TQD5mQ

  • Cool idea, but the translation is shit. It's no better than google translate a decade ago. Translates words okay…. But when you try a sentence, it does not translate the sentence, rather the individual words in the same order.
