Prices the same across company

I'm wondering if people know which companies have a central pricing system. EG if light bulbs are reduced at Coles, they probably aren't reduced elsewhere. But if paint is reduced at Bunnings, it is probably the same at all Bunnings.

Specifically I"m looking at saucepans at Big W store.
They aren't online, so can't tell from there.

thanks for thoughts

It really depends on the special rather than the store.

For example when Coles had their ice cream on special it was throughout all stores but I've recently bought something from bunnings that was on "clearance " (as opposed to "special") and covered in dust so I don't think it would have been a nationwide thing

Officeworks has a central pricing system.

  • Side note (not especially helpful for you, OP, but is somewhat on topic)..

Some things ARE listed on the Big W online site, with prices. What I've learned is that you can't expect the same items in store to be the same price.

I browsed on their site, found some scales for $9. Thought they'd be the same in store. They were $20 in store.

Showed the staff the website listing on my phone in store and the manager argued with me quite rudely (when I was very polite and simply asked what the differences were to online vs. in store) all these reasons which I can't quite recall now. Something about not having to pay staff wages etc, and all the stock being kept in one depot or some crap, and being delivered from one central place yada yada yada.

Made sense in a way, but I was surprised that the Big W website was treated as a separate entity to the Big W brick and mortar stores. In my naivety, I wasn't familiar with any other major store behaving in that way (though I suppose I don't shop that much?).
