Godaddy are dodgy see the whirlpool threads.
DON'T check domain name availability through godaddy, they are well known for registering it for themselves then you have to pay them exorbitant fees to buy it back from them.
That's not unusual tbh. People just need to be more educated in the ways of the interwebs.
