  • Just to confirm this is the old model is it? AKA "Air 1"?

  • Yes correct, this is the Air 1

    • Cool.. Still a nice price..

  • good price

  • good price. I will grab one if I didn't buy the air 1 32gb not long ago.

  • include GST?

    • +1

      All prices include GST, pretty sure it's a legal requirement to display prices including it.

  • maybe try to pricematch at officework

  • I am after an iPad Air 16GB WiFi so checked your site OP.

    I almost fell off my chair!!

    $575 !!!

    The Apple Store sells them for $499 delivered and engraved

    • SAMR Office works is doing the Ipad Air 32 GB for $469 currently

    • OWS is running a promotion atm, $469 for 32G

    • +1

      Sorry about this, it was an old list, item should no longer be up there.

      We also have iPad Mini with Retina display 64GB ($550 inc. GST) and 128GB ($640 inc. GST) (4G+Wifi Model).
      These are the iPad Mini 2nd gen.
      Will soon upload if any interests.

      • Pls give the link for Ipad Mini 2 64 and 128. I would like to buy one. Can't find on ur website

      • Can I have the links for the mini's please?

  • would this come with an invoice so that we could claim the GST back as a rebate in the airport? i.e. A tax invoice has the word ‘tax invoice’ on it and shows the business name and Australian Business Number (ABN) of the retailer, the purchase price including the GST and/or WET paid, a description of the goods and the date you purchased the goods.

    • +2

      Yes, you will get a proper tax invoice with GST amount included and shown along with all details required.
      This is a legal requirement in Australia.

  • I dont know the Air 1 comes with 128GB.

      • yeah, but looking at one page back, doesnt say

        http://store.apple.com/au/ipad/compare

        • I don't know, but maybe Apple have stopped making/selling the Air 1 128GB to try and push those sales towards the Air 2 128GB ?

        • @shmahoo:

          Correct

          Essentially these are discontinued.

          But still a great deal for someone who is after a large capacity cellular iPad, but doesn't need the latest A8 chip, or TouchID. So there is still huge market for these, especially at this price. The ipad Air 2 cellular 128GB is over 1k RRP. Plenty of people who'd rather keep $300 to not have an A8 chip/touch ID

        • +1

          It does not mean Apple never made them, just because Apple no longer actively offers them for retail sales.

          See http://support.apple.com/kb/SP692

          I have a 128GB iPad Air with 4G myself and use it daily.

    1GB ram makes this not a bargain IMO.

    • +2

      Thats like saying cheap regular petrol isnt a bargain because it aint premium petrol

      Its not 2gb, but theres'nothing wrong with 1gb ram. Not everyone needs 2GB.

      • -2

        Actually it's nothing like that. iOS8+ with 1GB is a terrible experience. 2GB isn't a 'premium' product, it's a bare minimum, despite what Apple may tell you.

        Take a look at the amount of free ram left from the 1GB on a fresh boot. It's only a few hundred meg. This is why tabs in Safari/Chrome continually need to reload.

        I base this on my experience with my iPad 3 (which is now retired because of this reason) and countless complaints on Apple's support forums.

        • +1

          Exactly my point.

          If its a terrible experience for you - get something with 2GB or more

          1GB isnt terrible for me. Its not terrible for my 2 yo child. Its not terrible for my mother either.

          I'll say it again. Not everyone needs 2GB.

          I'm not sure what the best specced tablet on the market is right now, but i'm sure if you tried to do some hardcore intensive video decoding/editing etc on it, it could be a terrible experience also.

          all depends on what you need it for.

          @Overtime2000:

          Even running basic apps like youtube run like crap on iOS 8 and the Air. I'd say its pissweak performance for even the average light user. I wouldn't buy anything less than the air 2, and I am only a light user, the regular Safari crashes and restarts was enough for me to upgrade, which were unacceptable for a premium priced device.

          This is an example of the crap you get with iOS 8.

          http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2s6ludl&s=8#.VKz5xiuUdZs

          Perhaps your idea of what is acceptable is a lot different to others.

        • +1

          @Ronnnie:

          I have 2 ipad airs 1st generation that my children use. Youtube is used almost everyday, doesnt seem to have any hiccups. In fact right now I can hear my daughter watching peppa pig on youtube.

          I bought them when there was no ipad air 2. But even now, if I was to buy another ipad I think I would save the 2-300 dollars and get the ipad air 1 still, at the current price points.

          Reality is, any device has potential for problems, depending on how you use it.

          "Perhaps your idea of what is acceptable is a lot different to others"

          That is exactly what I said. 1gb might not be sufficient for a lot of things. It is still great for a lot of everyday tasks however. And just because it doesnt suit/suffice your particular needs doesnt mean it isnt a good bargain.

        • -4

          @Overtime2000:
          If you're spending $700 for your child to watch Peeper Pig, there's something wrong. Much more appropriate priced tablets out there for that use.

          Basically no one wouldn't need a tablet to have the ability to have more than 2-3 tabs open in a browser. This isn't some advanced feature request. In fact it couldn't be more basic.

        • +2

          @PainToad:
          Have 5 tabs open right now. Not crashing.

          Not sure how the '700 is too much for a kid'statement is relevant. What if, just what if, me or my wife use it too?
          If you are happy buying $100 tablets for your kids that is ok also.

          There is probably something wrong with the iPad air that you've experienced.
          But of course you will link me to some forum that absolutely proves 99% off the millions of iPad airs out there cannot in fact handle more than 3 Brower tabs.

        • -3

          @Overtime2000:
          Not crashing, reloading tabs. You seem to quite technology inept. That's OK, it's how Apple makes a profit.

        • +2

          @PainToad:

          I too recently updated from an iPad 3 to an iPad Air 2. I must say, the difference is like chalk and cheese. The main reason I did it was due to the constant reloading of tabs in Safari & Chrome. Now, no matter how many tabs I have open, it just never happens.

          Having said that, the iPad Air 1 would be the perfect tablet for 95% of users, who could probably care less about this 'small' issue. Each to their own I guess :)

        • +2

          @PainToad:

          As usual it comes back to the'Apple makes money off idiots like you' type insults

          Weak.

        • +2

          @tightarse:

          Agreed.

          $699. It's a good price for what it's is.

        • -1

          @Overtime2000:
          If you want to spend $700 on a tablet that will perform worse than a $200 Android, then go for it. Apple make great products, but this isn't one of them. The issue will only get worse with each OS upgrade as more features are added, consuming more ram. Enjoy.

        • +2

          @PainToad:

          Thanks. I have enjoyed it.

          The price doesn't concern me too much considering how well they retain value. Factor in travel gst refund, tax deductions, and eventual resale I've always been ahead

          Android are like PCs when it comes to resale. No thanks.

        • @Overtime2000:

          That's not always true, I lost $200 for 12 months of ownership with my iPad air. Where I only lost $50 after 12 months with my nexus 7.

          It's all relative at the end of the day, if you spend $700 on a tab you can lose hundreds in a year of ownership, whereas a $200 tab you can only at most lose $200. In tasks such as browsing and a light user task my $200 tab would perform better than my air. I find with YouTube it's laggy and sometimes crashes, normally when you're moving the time slider. Probably Google fault, as it never happened on my Android tab.

        • @Ronnnie:

          Of course it isn't always true. But as a generalisation Apple products do keep value better. It's because there are only so many models of an Apple product i.e. A handful of iPhone or iPad products at any given time.

          The 2nd hand market will always be flooded with various make/model of Android machines at any given time. Hence lower resale generally.

          But yes, Apple price points are significantly higher.

        • @Overtime2000:

          Because of the higher asking price point to begin which gives the illusion that they keep better value, but its all relative. You pay more to begin with, so of coarse they'll sell for a higher value later on. It shows from this deal posted here that Apple products lose value fast, this is down what about $500 over what it originally sold for?

          Really you are better off forgoing the 64gb of storage and 4g for an Air 2. Apple will only increase the demands of iOS to force people into upgrading, and thus this tablet despite costing more will have less life. 1gb of ram is bad enough now, but will really be telling in the future updates. I already read too many complaints about it by unhappy users.

        • @Ronnnie:

          "Because of the higher asking price point to begin which gives the illusion that they keep better value, but its all relative. You pay more to begin with, so of coarse they'll sell for a higher value later on."

          Simply not true. If you measure resale as a % of original price, Apple products collectively has a higher resale % after X time than Androids collectively. Yes I do admit there are makes/models of Androids that retain value as well as Apple, perhaps nexus or samsungs I'm not sure, but when you look at Androids as a whole and compare it to Apple the %resale is lower - no matter what the price point.

          "Really you are better off forgoing the 64gb of storage and 4g for an Air 2."

          Well, I suppose it depends on the user. Some people need 4g. Some people need 128GB. Some people need 2GB ram. Some people need android. Great thing is- there is something to accomodate everyone. It doesnt make this less of a deal/bargain.

          "1gb of ram is bad enough now, but will really be telling in the future updates. I already read too many complaints about it by unhappy users."

          Firstly, nothing is ever future proof. Soon, 2GB RAM may be obsolete. For now, the majority of ipad air users are happy users. Yes there are a lot of people who cannot live with a 1gb ram tablet and that is fine. Still they would be in the tiny tiny minority. For the majority of actual users - that includes older people, kids from toddlers to teenagers, students, casual users - the ipad air is still perfectly OK.

          Remember in the real world not everyone is a 20-40year old technologically adept geek/nerd who reads gadget websites in their spare time.

          I'm done explaining why not everyone in the world needs a tablet with more RAM. If you think still think people are all dumbasses for wanting to save $$$ and buying a 1GB tablet - its time to go outside into the real world

  • Great price, and great seller. Bought from them before, and no issues at all.

  • It says $699.00 delivered, is this the case because when i look it says you have to pay freight. Freight would be to 4883.

    • When you do the checkout, choose "free shipping" and you won't pay freight.

  • +1

    Must….. restrain….. self…… do… not…. need…. another tablet…. in my life…. Damn you Ozbargain!!

    • I'm waiting for iPad Air 3 so I can get the iPad Air 2.
      Maybe.
      Could be an interesting 2015 with all the rumors regarding iPad Air Plus, and Surface Pro 4.

  • Rep…What type of free delivery is actually offered here?

    • We deliver by Australia Post e-Parcel service or Startrack Express courier.

      • Is that same day or next day delivery?

        • Startrack Express does next day delivery to most Metro cities.
          Australia Post e-parcel depends on destination (i.e. 1 day to VIC & SA, 1-2 days to NSW, 3-4 days QLD, 4-5 days WA).
          Generally we use Startrack Express when delivery destination is a business premise (or clearly attended address during business hours).

        • i placed the order before 2pm, is that mean i can expect to have the iPad delivered tomorrow? I tried to call your contact numbers, but no answer :(

  • +1

    Damn! Sooooooo tempted! What to do? What to do?

  • Does this "free shipping" include full insurance for the full cost of the item?

    So if aussie post lose it i get a 100% refund for my cash?

    • hope that answers your question.

  • Sorely tempted by this… the iPad can offer hotspots now can't it? (since iOS7 I think). I recall they crippled the ability with the iPad2 at least…

    • +1

      Yep, definitely offers hotpots. I've used with iOS8 on both iPad 3 and iPad Air

  • Just picked up one of these today and very happy with the purchase.
    Thanks Exeltek.
