Internet Shopping and Returns - what can you reasonably expect

If a website for a large and well know brand states on their website:

"Easy return and exchanges",
"Risk free shopping",
and
"Money back guarantee
45 days return & exchange"

would you reasonably expect that you can return items for a refund, only store credit, or that you could only return for exchange if the item is faulty?
I am in the process of having to deal with this question and want your thoughts.

There should be a page where it covers their return policy in more detail, the statements you quoted are still kinda vague.

    • Yes, you are right.
After posting I thought 'someone will say, "you should have read their returns policy before buying"'.
Sadly the above comments led me to believe returns would be no big deal so I didn't bother.
      As far as extra details:
      1. the returns would be immediate - ie they would be returned as soon as they arrived - unused and unopened
      2. the site is Australian

  • you mentioned internet but failed to mention whether it is still within Australia or if it is international.Or what items you're buying.

I mean no stores will accept returns on 'worn' underwear once you decided you didn't like it enough. Regardless of whether those terms you quoted are plastered all over the website or not.

  • Overseas co. you have buckleys.

If aust then you are entitled to a refund for the standard reasons shown on the DOFT web site.

Whats the problem with the item? Change of mind? Faulty? Wrong colour, size, etc. ?

How did you pay for the item?
