  • Yep, more channels. Also have 30 free movies a month and can hire new releases but you pay.

I'm liking it, especially for sport and docos.

  • Also a PVR, you can record 2 different channels while watching another.

    • any idea how much recording space it has?

      • From memory something like 500GB, but to be honest I haven't checked since I first got it so my memory could be playing up on me.
Either way, I've scheduled recordings of certain series and just let it do it's thing and then catch up watching it in one go before deleting it and have never had had it tell me it's out of space yet.

  • Whats the quality of the sport like? In Particular EPL on Beinsports, Is the quality as clean as foxtel?

  • 1 TB hard drive. Navigate to "catch up"…..you have access to 300 odd, SBS movies

  • What's the Optus Cable Unlimited package like? Does it get good speeds all the time?

I'm on an old Telstra Naked Cable plan (no phone and no entertainment) with 80GB a month for $70, and 35 Mbps speed at last check, but I'd be happy with 20Mbps, $90 a month, phone and entertainment

Cable (Optus or Telstra) depends on who else in your neighbourhood you're sharing with. peak times (like School holidays) it'll slow down. Saturday & sunday morning it can be very quick.

Most people seem to think Telstra is quicker. I swapped over from Telstra -> Optus cable and I actually had them runnign side-by side for a few days. In teh speed tests Optus usually was slightly quicker domestically, Telstra was slightly quicker internationally.

For the $90 plan, if ou ask Optus they usually upgrade you to the 100Mbs plan for free. Which makes their domestic stuff quite quick.

The fetch box works nicely as a PVR, but with the new Netflix app normal TV will get the flick.

I get good speeds- a lot of people in my area are on ADSL so my speeds seem to be consistent. They gave me a free speed pack upgrade when I told them that someone I know recently signed up with them and got it for free. It usually costs about $20-25 extra and allows you to reach 100mb/s, but I've been averaging between 40-60mb/s which is pretty fantastic, with about 20mb/s when I'm using net and someone else is using Fetch.

      • Thank you supabrudda and enidan :)

Also for the tips about the speed pack!
