Well in the end I went to Chatswood JBHiFi and got the KDL40W5500 for $1725 + surge protector + uncharted 1 for PS3. Its sitting in my living room now looking pretty damn sexy!!!
On a side note I got the Drummoyne Sony Center down to $1745

I have found a 46XBR 45 for $3210 at harvey norman they are clearing them out ! Has anyone else found i price better. The sony central store in world sqaure wants $3499 with 3 years warranty if i go for the 5 years warranty with free install and delievly they said $3750 at best.
According to the guy I spoke to at Sony Central, they give a free upgrade to 5 years warranty. So you shouldn't be getting extra warranty as part of a more expensive deal.
Also thanks to britta i got a SONY KDL40WE5 for $1620 today. I printed out the reciept and showed the sales person and i think by mistake he gave me the next model up. I dont get it until thursday . But yeah thats the bext i have found.

found in Myer for $3168 (25% off and then 15% off), display unit as well. Don't think it worth it, think about it is there for half a year and run 8-10 hours per day. >_< Think the extra 15% off offer expired last sunday.
I only asked about the 40" W, We and Z models and the best prices I had found from here and whirlpool were below 'cost' apparently. I can't see how JB, HN etc. can do cheaper prices than a Sony store. Surely the Sony stores would get better cost prices than other places.
So this unit in harvey norman is brand new for $3210. I wouldnt want to save $40 and have a second hand display model.
And yes i went into jb hifi with britta reciept and they still said no but went into harvey norman they said they match it and accidentally gave me to 40we model. I think the difference is only $100 retail so its no huge bargain.

i ended up buying one from david jones for $3000 including delievery. Im in sydney tho , not melbourne
has anyones claim proceeded to validated yet. i sent mine off on thurs the 22nd and its been 3 buisness days and still hasnt been processed on the tracking site. a bit worried because i forgot to get a photo or a photocopy of my original receipt… probably over worrying
just called the helpline and apparently it has been validated its just the tracking site hasnt been updated. if anyone else is having this problem i suggest u call them to check

Guys, be careful when buying a Sony product, their warranty and aftersales are awful. I'm trying to get my laptop fixed because the speakers crackle on and off and the outsourced service centre is saying there's no problem and want to charge me a $100 service fee for not being able to do anything! Alternatively, I can pay $170 for a full system restore which isn't covered by Sony warranty to see if that can fix the problem which they deem cease to exist. The service centre is trying to get money one way or another and Sony says its hands are bound because it's not a hardware issue. Since when is speakers crackling a software one? Either way this has left a really nasty taste in my mouth and I won't be buying a Sony product ever again no matter how cheap it may seem.
In addition, both Sony and the service centre tried to claim that I had to drop off the laptop at the service centre but when I told them I knew for a fact that the warranty terms cover courier pick-up and delivery, they quickly asked my address to send the courier. And they won't send it back now for free because there was no warranty claim

i bought a tv on 03/11 and sent the application on the same day.
it was validated on 06/11 and shipped out on 10/11.
i live in melbourne and auspost.com.au says it's at St. Leonards Bulk Lodgement Centre (delivery centre).
Does anyone know how long it'd take to get here in Melbourne?

The PS3 has never come with an HDMI cable, it's not a rumour, it's a fact.
Best place to buy is an online store. You can get them for less than $10 usually.
