  • Was just about to post this one ^_^

That's a lot of money for chocolate past its use-by date

    • +6

Best Buy Date not Use By Date.
I have bought chocolates from this mob twice before and the chocolates look and taste great.

  • +5

I will say this as i have in the other chocolate deals

“Use Buy” is used on perishable food items (milk, cream and so on) which develop bacteria as they age, these bacteria can be harmful to human health.
Even so, use buy dates are conservative; drinking milk a few days after this date is not going to kill you nor will it make you sick provided you smell it and use common sense.
Food past its use buy date cannot be sold.

“Best before” is used on non perishable foods where bacteria will not grow over time.
After the best before date a product may change in colour, consistency and/or taste however poses no harmful effect from consumption.
Best before is a date which the manufacturer grantees the food will be in the same condition as it left the factory.
There is no harm in selling food past its best before date nor is it illegal. There are even supermarkets which only sell food past its best before date at large discounts.

You will not get sick from eating this chocolate nor is it going to taste or look any different, in say 3-6 months things might be different.

Still hopefully the best before date is wrong like on the blocks of chocolates I previously bought from 1day were (ozstock said the best before date was october 09 yet when I got the chocolates the actual best before was january 2010).

    • If you get the maximum of 2 orders, that's 6 boxes @ $3 each.

  • I've eaten chocolate that is 7 months out of date and it didn't taste that great.

This chocolate should taste great though. I would buy it if it was fat free :P

    +1 from me!

I got the original 12 blocks of Old Gold and they were (are) beautiful! Who knew cadbury could still make nice chocolate. I'd never had the "old gold" brand before and had long since moved away from Cadbury in favor of Aldi's german choccies but everyone here loves old gold.

Nothing at all wrong with being beyond "before before" dates. Bargain yumminess. That said I don't think I'll get this deal, still have heaps from the original deal :)

Keep these food deals coming 1-Day!

    • It seems that Cadbury have decided to go back to using Cocoa Butter rather than Palm Oil.
      http://ozsoapbox.com/personal/cadbury-admits-stuffing-up-the…

      • Yea thats right but in this particular batch it includes vegetable oil in the ingredients (well according to the item description).

        • +1

vegetable oil is palm oil - another reason why ther're getting rid of it I think

    • +1

      (Forget this was here)

  • This is a great deal, +1 for me

But I'm not buying it, only because it got Palm Oil rathar than coca butter(Cadbury's Fail Project to save some money)
But its only my personal view - both tase almost same unless you are a chocolate critics (eat, live and sleep on coca)

None the less - good deal

    • if you tasted them back to back I think most people could tell…

  • I don't think I'd want to eat OLD chocolates… How much are the fresh ones?

    • RRP=$108 for 6

  • +5

I guess you could call these Cadbury Very Old Gold chocolates.

    • +1

so true… i wonder why they didnt just re-label and sell them at double the price!? :)

  • Quite apart from the freshness question,,,
    ,,, where are they manufactured?
Australia?,, or parallel import from SE Asia??
    \_/7

    • +1

The theory of them being old stock which use palm oil instead of coco butter makes sense so they are probably old Australian stock which were removed from sale to make way for the coco butter version.

I will tell you for sure in a few days

  • Anyone got their chocolates yet? Still haven't got mine yet. Cheers

    • I would be expecting to see them today/tomorrow.

      • Yeah, some time this week.
I had no problems with my previous orders with them.

  • No, not yet.

  • Mine arrived today.

  • Got mine today. They are very nice, almost finished a box already and had to give 3 boxes away to family/friends so I only have 2 boxes left.

The best before date was 05.10.09 but they still taste great.
