Dual band router, gigabit switch for access point

A prosperous new year, everyone,
I'm hunting for a cheapish dual band gigabit router that I can configure as an access point. The WD N900 7 port switch

can be had for under $50. Anyone have other suggestions?.

NB i live in the scrub so doing the rounds for bargains is not an option.

Cheers

  • I had a N900 bought from MSY a year ago. I am going to do exactly the same thing.
I am now using a "Smart" router with Openwrt alike firmware but I want to change it to Cisco so N900 is one of my solutions.

I had a N600 before and I must say N600 is more stable than N900, but 900 should be OK for just a AP.

The review does not really do the range test though.

I had a N600, which I got rid of. Problem was its range was worse than TP-Link single band wireless N router (for the 2.4 GHz). N900 would have a better range.
