Not sure if its a deal or not, but saw the xbox360 trap team starter pack at castle hill kmart for $29 on clearance. They also had the disney infinity xbox360 starter pack for $29 too
You might want to check that as my local Kmart are selling swap force and infinity 1 for those prices, where as trap team is still full price.
As an FYI: this one requires new "trap team" skylanders to open the in game gates, so the old figures are almost useless… Wasn't happy to find that one out!

Can't the figurines be used still though in game? I know you need the new portal but I thought all previous figurines work on trap team? That's what I read anyway but I could be wrong
Sure, they work, and you can play through with them, but all the portals are only able to open with a trap team skylander.
And there are "unknown" portals that only certain skylanders can open, but you don't know which one until you buy it!!
It's just turned into a shitty cash grab, and it's not cool..

I kind of take it as inevitable that Activision will do all they can to trap all of our dollars with every new one of these. At least the trap functionality is totally super cool when you do catch a baddie.
But while a polished and very fun game, it is a total money pit. Especially if you have kids…
The talking trap portal is quite amusing.
Indeed, the money pit is how it has always been - previously you needed a swap character of each element to open the combo gates.
This time around it's double, in that you need a trap of every element to finish the Quests. Unless you're a commpletionist though, these quests are next to worthless.
The game is enjoyable enough with the base set and a favourite. My 7 year old loves the crocodile guy.
