Spec Ops: The Line

Developed by Yager (Dead Island 2) and published by 2K, Spec Ops is probably one of the most under-rated shooters for the last few years, certainly it's far better than the more heavily hyped & advertised ones. This current Steam special is one of the lowest I've ever seen it, though it was released in a couple of bundles mid year and probably will be again, I believe the game is well worth the current price for any who love this genre.

That said, you can also pick it up at your own risk for US$4.95 at Games Rocket. Why is it risky? As with many other games the vendor keys for this one is slowly going region locked. Amazon US (US$5.99), as an example, shows it's now region locked (found underneath "download time") so purchasing this title off a site other than Steam has become more risky.

Two Worlds Collection

Almost every Skyrim gamer should know Two Worlds, and for those who don't, the games kind of like Skyrim. The first time I played it the game needed some serious bug killing, it was almost as bad as Vampires: The Masquerade. These days it's achieved a certain cult status and ships far more pest resilient. The pack comes with:

Two Worlds Epic Edition -90% US$0.99
Two Worlds II -90% US$1.99
Two Worlds II - Pirates of the Flying Fortress (DLC) -90% US$0.99
Two Worlds II Castle Defense (terrible stand-a-lone, just awful) -90% US$0.99

Personally I'd purchase the The RPG Champions Bundle from Bundle Stars for US$4.99 as it ships with everything except 2W2: Castle Defense, and also has:

Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator
Enclave
Gorky 17

note: The Primary reason for posting the 2W Collection is for people like myself who purchased one or two games at some stage and have been waiting for the others to come on special. If you own none of the games and don't need those provided in the Bundle then this deal is still exception value, not to mention this price is a historical low for Steam.

edit note: Spread the format out, seemed to visually compressed.
edit note: Modified wording and verbal redundancies.

Spec Ops is a really fantastic underrated title. The combat gets a little repetitive as does the cover system but stick it out and you will appreciate it.

    • Up there with Enemy Territory as one of my favourites.

I played about 75% of it, until I couldn't take any more of my inept squad and the brain-dead AI enemies. Besides some pretty nifty set pieces, the actual gameplay is no different to the old Conflict games on PS2.
Also personally the most hyped aspect of this game (the story) was weak. How am I supposed to care about whether or not to kill a single individual immediately after I've just spent the last half hour murdering hundreds of marines?

    • I heard they use these games as mediums to find the best cold blooded recruits …… any number blocked calls recently :)

[SPOILER] That was actually part of the story: you were tricked into the mass killings - will you stop or continue after going this far already? [SPOILER]

I got the game free last year (courtesy of my PS Plus sub) and didn't really know much about it, so was pleasantly surprised how good it was.
