just because its a rep doesnt make it spam…
http://www.melbourneit.com.au/cc/ssl-certificates/index?cmpi…
its 130 a year from that place….
you could possibly buy cheaper certificates but this is thawte…so compare apples to apples…
the fact that he didnt tick the "i am a rep" box when posting the deal makes it spam… It's not like the old days where you had to email mods
yeah he should have checked I am a rep if he is, as it sounds like he is. neg is still a bit harsh for that…. can you edit then go click it to update youself to rep?
I can not as it does not appear while editing.
MelbourneIT is barely a valid comparison. They're markup is ridiculous. $140/2yrs for a .com.au domain name for example as opposed to a common $25-$40 (wholesale is ~$20)
LOL that is pretty bad… yeah couldn't find anything else to compare it against…so just used the first thing.
find something reliant and post the price then…
RapidSSL offers SSL for $18USD/year
You can't compare the two.
We totally agree with 'wisc'.
This is Thawte so please compare apples to apples.
Thanks.
Please explain to me the difference.
Thawte offers the better browser support, in that they support quite a few more older versions of browsers. You will find problems while opening up websites in the older browser if you go with cheap SSL certificate.
That is technically true, although in practice it doesn't make much difference.
RapidSSL is recognised by: IE 5.01+, Netscape 4.7+ and Mozilla 1+ browsers etc
Thawte SSL is recognised by: IE 3+, Netscape 2.x+ and Mozilla 1+ browsers etc
I don't think many people are using IE3 nowadays!
In terms of security both of them offers only domain level validation. See https://www.thesslstore.com/
@RayEarth: +1 for Ray … I know who Im contacting if I ever need SSL
@RayEarth: Agree. From a computer's point of view, a SSL cert is a SSL cert is a SSL cert. Well, except for Extended Validation it all looks the same. Some might have more extensive validation process, but an end user would not know.
yeah but i'm sure i can go and buy a Hyundai for much cheaper than a fararri. or you can even get two simular cars for different prices.
after all they both get you from a-b.its may or may not be a bargain for this item. but at least compare what you can get this exact item for elsewhere rather than something that does the same thing.
there are plenty of things that do the same things, eg mobiles, but look at the difference in costs.
guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite as i have neg'ed stupidly expensive fashion clothing before even though it was on sale….
All the new mobile devices only support certificates signed by limited certificate Authority and that includes Thawte, verisign etc and not many other cheap Cetificates can offer you that. It is the matter of securing your website or workplace and that too supported by all the devices or browsers, otherwise anyone can easily break into your security; protecting you from identity theft and other internet crimes.
