Panasonic SC-PMX9 - Premium Micro Hi-Fi System @ Retravision (WA Only) - $499 (Save $100)

40

Panasonic SC-PMX9. Cheapest one I could find online. This is a higher-end micro Hi-Fi with great reviews (competing with the likes of Denon or Yamaha). Normally $599, it is $499 online special in WA only (free delivery to some metro areas). Unfortunate as I’m looking for one in QLD. Not many retailers stock this flagship model and after some searching Sony does not have a premium equivalent such as this one a couple years ago http://www.whathifi.com/sony/cmt-g2bnip/review.

  • 120W 2 channel high quality sound
  • Bluetooth, AirPlay and DLNA wireless connectivity
  • DAB+ Digital Radio, CD playback and USB
  • Lightning pin dock for iPod/iPhone
  • Works with Panasonic Music Streaming app

These micro systems are really cool, they are class D so 120 watts has power closer to 1500 watts class A (your typical system)

    • Exactly, I would have never considered one until I visited a friend's place and tinkered with their Sony Micro-Hi-Fi (they had a CMT-G2BNIP). Amazing sound and seemed just perfect for what I need.

Have you had a look at the Sony CMT-SBT300WB ? GoodGuys have it for $369.
I have had one for a year or so & it's quite good. I prefer the Apple interface being a cable, then can use old & new devices. Big issue though is that Sony & vTuner seem to intermittently have licensing disputes - currently at day35 of another outage!

    • I have had a look at that. I think it is very suited for its price.. I'm looking for something one step up personally.
I've read that the components between the "premium" systems and the rather consumer grade Sony is quite marked.. I figured that is why the CMT-SBT300WB isn't reviewed in audiophile forums like its predecessor (CMT-G2BNIP). By all accounts I've read it seems that this Panasonic competes quite well with the entry level Denon's which are apparently best quality but less features (no wireless streaming, etc). In Australia though, the Denon's are about $800-900, so this Panasonic is definitely a buy if you want a small system that is super quality in sound. Denon's are much more price-competitive in UK/USA.

But thanks anyway, I might have to go in to a shop and test the Sony out.

  • Update I got AppliancesOnline.com.au to price match and deliver it to me for $499! Too bad I couldn't double-coupon and get an extra $25 off with their promo code

    • Well done tailgatinholden! Would you be able to take a photo of the appliances online receipt so I can try for the same price?

Btw how is the sc-pmx9 going?

      • It exceeds all my expectations.. I have it linked to my macs via Airplay (although it has a slight delay, Apple's fault). Bluetooth is better in terms of lag.. and yeah, FLACs sound amazing.

Definitely worth the price. Delivered within 2 days.

        • Thanks!
