Still available through online Paxton's Store, link below for $49.95 ($39.95 + $10 ship), which is still much cheaper than anywhere else I can find…

None left on Paxton's Ebay Store @ 1am AEDT, 34 sold to OzB's
Free Ship to Qld/NSW/Vic urban postcodes, hopefully to rest of Oz.
Amazon price US$79.99 + ship
Cheapest on Staticice $89:

Paxton's Store lists 64Gb version as $79.95 which is also a steal, but the 32Gb is expandable with SD Card so seems a bit pointless with some of the deals on OzB recently. Also not sure about shipping through online Paxton's site.

  • This deal was in eBay since the beginning of Dec. But it is still a good price for a portable sharing hub.

    • +1

Agree, at least people have received - all positive feedback from those purchased in last 3 weeks, doesn't seem to be a pricing error.

  • +4

I got a bit excited when i read the price. But watched a review or two. It appears you always have to connect via the app, which imo kills the future of the device. If it worked via a web interface, and had ftp option, i'd be more impressed.

    • Was thinking the same, but came down to $34.15 for me, so I figured I'm going to give it a shot.

      • How? Can you let others know so we can save a little more potentially?

        • Sorry, still had a $5 ebay voucher, so this won't work for everyone.

  • What does this do? Do you need to have Internet to work it my iPad can't get internet on the go unless im using free wifi it's got no sim.
I'm tempted but not sure of this as not heard of it before

    • +2

No SIM. Just a portable media hub by creating its own WiFi hotspot for file sharing.
So useful when internet connection dodgy, data expensive, overseas etc

  • How does it work on iPad when traveling in a car as it says in description. As it also states the wifi connection required (assuming on the router)

    • +1

Essentially a file streaming, file sharing router by creating its own WiFi hotspot. Add an HD video/data/content onto internal memory or SD card and then share between smart device users.

Can also shift content from an iPad/iPhone/Other Smart device that has run out of storage, onto an SD card without iTunes/laptop…so handy for travelling.

Sandisk have a very thorough rundown on their website with videos:
      http://www.sandisk.com.au/products/wireless/media-drive/

  • So no connection to use this as confused about wifi part

    • +1

watch a review on youtube. it either creates its own wifi network, or you join it to your existing one. It isn't accessed from outside the network so you can only use it at home/where you're holding your device.

  • Thanks, got one. With the $25.- from eBat it turned out to be just $15.-

  • -1

dont all of those 3g/4g myfi devices have an sd slot for this exact thing

and arent they all essentially free AND they throw in internet as well (as long as you have a plan)

seems to be a product looking for a market… AND you need an app? pass on this shit

    • For what? To easily share files between different devices?

    • +2

What this SanDisk device (Hub) does is either create a wifi hotspot or connect to your existing wifi network to share the contents in the installed SD with different devices.
In the first case, your device, eg iPad/PC/Mac need to direct connect to the wifi hotspot created by the Hub ie you need to switch the wifi connection of your iPad etc to connect to the Hub's wifi hotspot. To connect it is similar to how your iPad connect to free wifi hotspot in shopping center. That is also how your mobile device can get the contents from the Hub on the road without the need of 3G/4G internet. Not sure if the Hub is allowed to operate in a plane because it will create a wifi network.
If your iPad etc is always connect to your home wifi network and the Hub is also connected with your home wifi network, your iPad etc will be able to see the contents in the Hub.
Therefore no 3g/4g services are required. It also handy as I only need to upload my content once into the Hub the it can share with different devices at the same time like a wireless network drive or a small & private "Cloud". I agree use apps in IPad/Android to assess content from external device is a pain.

      • USB on the go anyone? Seems to me a much cheaper alternative would be a USB on the go drive, also saving on battery life by not needing WiFi. You could share drive by making a mobile hotspot, but can't really see the need to when many mobiles and tablets are already are 32 GB.
If main use was for data back up I think a USB OTG drive would be more practical again, for example a WiFi drive may have a flat battery.

        • That's another good option.

But not enough phones are 32gb or above (IMO). Eg Sony Z1 & Z3 Compact only 16gb (at least in AUS).
If they (Sony) did a 32 or 64gb version I would have got one, great size (for my use) and waterproof.

I cant believe companies are still pumping out 16gb phones/models and claiming them to be "flagship" models in their mid to high spec/price range when they have lame memory size.

          Sorry for rant.

  • $25 from ebay what's that how did you get for 15.
Still unsure about the wifi thing so it's only good if your at home then where there is a wifi connection, router Internet what say if I'm on a plane or say middle of nowhere with no internet will this still work??

    • He probably had a $25 voucher from ebay still. They send out vouchers now and then. Saved me $47.40 the other day on another purchase.

      • +1

Damn, I've had an account for years and never got anything. I have 88 feedback, how much do you have?

        • Just about 120 positive. Getting all the time some vouchers. Last 6 months 2 times $30.- and once $25.-

  • Trying to figure what this does do I need wifi as in be connected to the Internet if not then sounds like great device on the go if it needs Internet then only good if using mobile hotspot or free wifi say at airport etc or only good at home anyone got this or tell me more

    • From what I understand, yes, it will still work. I'm mainly getting this to easily share content between devices when there's no internet connection, or rather no wifi. If I got that wrong I've just wasted $34.15. lol

  • I should ask this in the forums, but just wanted to know what other options/products like this that people know of?

I recall there was a Kingston device like this, but smaller, I'm looking for it now.

So if you know of others devices like this please post a comment.

Kingston MobileLite Wireless G2, Seagate Wireless Plus 1TB/2TB or i would suggest the Verbatim Mediashare. It also uses its own wifi connection to share files from SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards, usb flash drive and ext. HDD. You can use it as a power bank as well

      • Thanks heaps inkart, this was exactly what info I was after.

The Verbatim Mediashare sounds good, its $49 + post (no idea how much) from Umart.
        Will look into them now.

        Damn, ebay sold out, bugger

Shame they don't list the 64gb on ebay also.

        cheers

  • Got one, thanks!

  • Myers asking $199 for this went for it in the end

  • Am I reading this right it takes Sd card or is it micro Sd card or both?

    • +1

Includes SDHC/SDXC memory card slot for storage expansion. So a MicroSD card would need as adapter for it to fit.

  • +1

Last week i saw this device on youtube and though i would need one. Check the local price is $150 for 64gb, i was going to grab it and get x2 64gb sd card from amazon for more storage. In the end i went for wd portable hdd 2tb wireless $299. The price is abit up but consider its 2tb compare to 64gb x3, its still work out cheaper but ofcourse much larger. Took the deal at thegoodguys for $290 and $50 store credit for buying before boxing day. So it work out $240, not bad in my opinion.

Saw this post last night, after considering its very small to fit in pocket and a normal 32sd card would cost about $15-$30, might as well grab this 32gb version for $50.
