Computer Deal from Catch of The Day

Hi all, i just need a opinion on this deal from catch of the day, i've been wondering if it is worth going for instead the Alienware brand gaming laptops.

Both have similar stats but the Alienware has less HDD which is easily upgraded, less RAM again easily upgraded, so the question is the Ausus Catch of the day is more value for money?

    You could also check out the Dell outlet - better specs. I would definitely go for Dell over Asus.

    Looks alright, but I've learnt that for laptops, specs are not the only factor. I've got burnt by (both literally and metaphorically) an overheating laptop so many times. So if I were you I'd look around and see reviews. Check out reviews to see how well they have designed it so that heat dissipates without building up too much. Factors such as size, (more room the better), number of fans have impact on those, but I don't think mere spec list can tell you about overheating issues well enough.

    I stopped following the gaming laptop lines few years ago, so my advise might be rubbish, but I've heard that AlienWare does have decent enough design for it to not overheat as much as it could with its spec.

    This being said, I don't know whether COTD laptop that you've linked have overheating issues or not.
    Though checking out Dell Outlet wouldn't hurt you. They have decent deals there as well.

    Alienware is owned by dell. Dell is crap. I've had bad experiences with them.

    The Asus has a marginally worse cpu it's $100 cheaper. Graphics card is the same, I'd go for that one.

    Thanks guys, I will definitely check out dell, I only just stumbled on the Asus one and got interested. I do need to update my current Asus laptop which is Overdue for ages!
