Ive been hunting around for a new GPU for a while & finally decided on the R9280x. thought i'd try & nab one over the xmas sales, average cost for them is around the $300 mark give or take then i found this last night on the 'bay of E' from China …… http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-R9280X-DC2T-3GD5-V2-Radeon-R… as you can see its significantly cheaper.Theres 3 versions of this card (this is v2)All 3 seem to be similar specs except this one takes up 3 slots(i know right, huge!!) It almost seems too good to be true but there's been 7 sold in the last 24hrs apparently so i dunno, what do you guys think?
Any feedback would be great.
Thanks

That's a hijacked account. No doubt about that.
See also Sabric's post on this eBay seller which he fell victim to.
eBay has many security flaws on their website, it has been reported many times here, here and here. A guide is also posted on the eBay community site
The hijacked account which typically has 100% feedback, is used to post items at a ridiculously low price. It's very easy to spot — just by looking at the nature of the items being sold (electronic items like smartphones, tablets, laptops and computer components sold at very low prices, large quantities, and descriptions with broken english / cut and paste jobs)
So let this be a warning to eBay users: Change your eBay passwords once in a while and be on the look out for suspicious activity on the site.
Thanks for the links man, unbelievable reading. I cant believe how easy it is for them, so many loose threads.
eBay are tards, they really need to focus on improving security. At least they should offer two factor authentication — if Paypal has it, why not eBay.
brand new! no way in hell, this is a scam.
i paid $150 used on gumtree for my 280x no way this is for real.
As they say, if it's too good to be true, then it isn't true.
Cheers guys, as i suspected too good to be true….. You'd think they'd be able to detect this sort of pattern, oh well.
Soooooo anyone know of a good deal on a R9280x lolThanks again for the info
Just checked his other items & he's sold 10x GTX780 at $268 each, 7 x the above on at $158 & 1x GTX780 at $288 ….the sonofabitch is making out like a bandit, I think i will report it to ebay.
He is charging $99 for shipping so I'd say the total price of $158 brings the price up to the ballpark. That being said, the newest scam in China is to get older model graphics card components and reflash them to tell your computer that they are from a newer model. Just google "China GPU scam" if you want to learn more about the fake GPUs on ebay.
The best way to protect your self from scams online is not by relying on platforms like ebay and paypal, but to educate yourself, not being greedy, using common sense and a bit of your brain helps.
Many of these scams follow the same style and its nothing new, but you still hear people crying about being a victim because they were too lazy to think for a second before handing over the money. Can you report it? Haven't noticed a 'Report' button on eBay before. Nuts if it's a convoluted process. Anything more than a few clicks and a few typed words and eBay is just part of the problem.
It's on the far right just above the description area.
Hi,
I am sure the seller is genuine.
It might even be a cousin of that friendly Nigerian gentleman who secured me $10m from a UN account.
Looking froward to my early retirement already :P.To be serious, do a search for "Report Fraud" on ebay under "Help & Contact".
It is a bit tricky to find but works, did that a few times and they do take it serious.
Cheers
Not sure how they respond to fraud, but my only experiences reporting feedback extortion have been very underwhelming.
From their feedback, 12 months ago they've only sold two items and both items are car related. All other feedback as a buyer are over a year old.
My guess is its a hacked account and a scam.
