I need to buy a car, point A to point B, only care that it has 5 seats and runs on the smell of an oily rag! I used to own a Daihatsu Mira back in the day and it was great on fuel, what cars are cheapest to run from say 1990-2005?
Which 5 Seater Cars Are Cheapest on Fuel?

Oh my bad I mean ultra cheap to buy as well. Sub $1k? Not looking for a hybrid.
Don't think you have many options sub 1k lol… Maybe a bike with multiple seats?
You cant even buy a decent bike for less than a gorilla.
Getting a car sub $1k will probably spend more time at the mechanics than on the road.
I can assure you, you won't find any car in the 2000's. Definitely around the 1990s.
Why don't you save up a little bit more and invest in something that will last you several years. Even with about 7k, you can get a very decent car.
Looking on Carsales, using the price filter, the minimum and max price listed is $2500…
Clear you filters because the max price on car sales is definitely not $2500.
What i mean is, in the drop down menu for min and max price, the lowest price you can select is $2500, in another words, you can not search for cars less than $2500.
Yes you can, don't select anything for the lowest price filter.
Buy a ford festiva, or if you want something bigger, a mitsubishi magna.
For that price range you may have to supply your own roadworthy though. Im still driving an old festiva I picked up for $250 with hail damage.
I thought this was ozbargain? Ever shopped on Gumtree? Got lots of stuff from there (Including good cars under $1k) shhhh now it's our secret :)
Just get this car, $0.01 wooo
Savvy choice maybe he'll give you a ripped seat cover?
Say there's 200 parts, 200 x $0.01 = $2. Still a bargain. Build your own car.
I'm thinking he won't sell them @ $0.01, in fact I think he listed at that price to get on top results of sort by price! Wow amazing I know!! Personally I don't have the time or skills to build a car :P
When you say 5 seats, do you mean what the manufacturer claims to be seats or how many adults can actually sit in the car for a couple of hours without whining about being uncomfortable?
For ultra cheap cars, see if you can get a Daewoo Lanos, just for the pop-culture reference. For fuel economy, diesel VW Golfs have a good reputation, but they are not cheap to buy.
98-99 Mazda 323's 1.6L/1.8L were very economical / reliable cars.
Toyota Prius
