LG G2 issues with other person having difficulties hearing me properly when lying down

Hi everyone,

Want to see if any oz-bargainers can help giving me a few suggestions? I have a LG G2 and when i'm on the phone and lying down, the other person struggles to hear me. It's only when i sit up, everything is normal again.

I have 2 years warranty on the phone and don't mind bringing it in for repair, but i want to know if this is a fault on the phone or not? I've done a factory reset before for another issue and it's a pain starting all over again, so i want to make sure it's worth doing, only if my phone can be repaired.

I've tried googling this and found that other ppl experience this too and not only LG G2 users

Any suggestions etc would help :) thanks!

  • My guess its something to do with the light sensor…. hear me out…

The feature is meant to mute or quieten down the microphone when you pull the phone away from your face - ie to stop the caller hearing ambient nosie or conversation when you are not actively talking to them. Laying down could be exposing the sensor even more.

My Samsung Galaxy S3 used to be very temperamental with this feature if the phone was not pressed firmly against my ear.

  • I have an LG G2 as well. I don't have any issues with it (it's a D802 international model).

I think it is the noise cancellation feature kicking in when your hand is holding your phone in a certain position.
I am aware that there is a noise cancelling issue when a video is being recorded (documented on XDA forums)

  • thank you, makes sense…but with my phone, i have it close to my ear and still ppl can't hear me :(

So really i shouldn't bother getting it fixed then…

I don't think it is 'fixable' because it's more like a feature of the device…maybe you can access the secret menu and turn off noise supression. perhaps.

      The secret menu is

      3845#*XXX#

where XXX is the model number of your LG G2. If it's a D802, then you push 3845#*802# into your dialer.

      • mine's a D802T, Put in the code and no options for " Noise suppression" maybe it's under something else?

        • I just checked. I don't think noise cancellation can be disabled through there. This is something LG will need to fix through a firmware update.

If you go into Call Settings, there is a Voice Enhancement option under the 'ongoing call' category. Try playing with this setting.

eeks… ok.. i'll head to David Jones and see what they can do. Maybe they might replce me a LG G3 ehhehe

Thanks so much :) Merry Christmas

Are you laying face down? because if so I may have a solution.

    • -1

no, but i'd like to hear your solution anyway lol

  • if you look at the bottom of the phone there are two "speaker" grills , the one on right is the speaker, the one on the left is the microphone, it is easy to cover the mic with your hand or little finger and people can't hear you

    • Thanks :) i've checked that too.. but still has the issue. I'll just have to send it to LG.. it's a 2-6 week wait! :(

      • if you are going to send it back might as well try a factory reset and try reinstall the firmware, seems to be reports of funny issues with the microphone (where i have to use speaker phone sometimes)

  • So… How many people actually lie down to make phonecalls?

  • I have a G2.. It's a very quiet phone however I don't have any issues with the microphone. I had screen burn-in issues and had that fixed and now runs like a dream. I would suggest making your calls vertically. Make sure you don't have a case on it.
