Ok, so I've got an expired $10 Mitre 10 gift card that I've tried to extend so I can use it on whatever I can get (never been to Mitre 10), called up Wright Express, they couldn't do it and said only Mitre 10 can do it.
So I called Mitre 10 head office and asked them if they could extend it, she tells me they normally extend them but because this was a promotional gift card which was won in a competition which cost them 50k or whatever and said they wouldn't do it which is completely stupid. It sounds to me like they are trying to recoup the costs of the competition. Why would you give it out in the first place if you are not willing to let the money go?
Adding to this; I use to work for a retail clothing company (not telling) and when someone would call with an expired gift card, we would simply extend it to keep the customer happy.
Mitre 10 being a company that has lost heaps of business to Masters and Bunnings isn't really painting themselves a good picture to win customers.
They won't be getting any of my business.
What do you think?
I've never asked about extending the expiry date on gift cards, but if its expired then its expired, nothing you can do you should've used it earlier
