I still have not figured out if the holiday sale is underwhelming or if I just perceive it to be because I already own every game that I want.

  The latter is what my feelings are. I haven't purchased one game so far. Probably because I know I won't play it and it will join the backlog of 350+ games that I'll never play.

  For the most part the last few steam sales have featured the same games over and over again. The games with big discounts that I like are already in my library. The games on my wishlist have yet to see a significant discounts.

  It's the former for me, pretty underwhelming sales tbh. A few gems every day or so but nothing like the early days when steam had massive discounts for a huge range of games. Overheads must be getting higher at Valve, pushing prices up.
