Ignoring the fact no one in OzBargain lives in NY, is there any reason to subscribe?
I don't live in Washington either but I read the Washington Post everyday. Nice to have an outside perspective on things that get reported a little differently here in Australia.

The NYT is a lame version of what it once was, and, because of this, they are now hemorrhaging money.
They post some pretty interesting stuff on their Facebook page, and free subscribers only get access to 10 articles a month, which rapidly evaporates when you read blog posts.
I read the occasional article they post, but most of my 10 article limit goes into Paul Krugman's Blog/Op-Ed Pieces(nytimes.com)
Not really unless you like high quality journalism, engaging reading and great op-ed pieces.
Compared to most US (and Australian) publications which are mostly local and parochial, the NYT has an excellent level of international coverage. While many in the US would consider it liberal, I consider it balanced.
I would never consider subscribing to the SMH (which is still probably my local publication of choice) but I subscribe to the New York Times.
