My point is, you can do that for free if you get a movie converting software as your device will already play movies.

If you are on NBN that's fine, BUT streaming to your mobile device means you will be charged for mobile data
Btw, I covered your points in my original post as well. If you are set on getting Plex Pass that's fine but there are alternatives.
From my understanding sync will make a copy of the selected video/audio onto your mobile device… but that doesn't need to be over the internet. Sync your device at home using WiFi on the same LAN as your Plex server, no mobile data used.

The sync function is awesome. On my home network, pick a movie or entire season of a series, click sync and in a few mins the whole lot is synced over wifi. I'd pay $149 USD (lifetime membership cost) just for that function and to avoid converting the movie on a computer then syncing it to phone. So much easier. AND it sync's back locally.
Eg- if I'm watching a show at the gym that I'd synced to my phone. Then get home that night and continue to watch it on the TV, it remembers exactly what I was watching and where it was watching from. Then I go in to the kitchen and watch it on the tv there, it already knows where I was watching from and continues. Then back at the gym, it'll remember where I last watched it from at home.I know $149USD is a lot and this is OzBargain. But I've also got to factor in what my time is worth copying movies, converting them, then syncing to my phone etc.
Remote streaming is great too, I do it between houses (Folks house to mine) streaming natively on their SAMSUNG tv.
I'd love the old $75 price too though. Haven't gone lifetime yet. Still playing at the monthly cost.

From the looks of it… sync is the less desirable function.
Here's my reason why…
Aus inter is slow, to sync a movie onto a cloud will take ages unless you're on NBN. Even then you would be paying out of your rear end in mobile data cost.
Plex sync is even worst, just grab a free movie convertor or a cheap one and turn your movies into mp4 or something, then just transfer it to your mobile device.
I can't really think of any reason Plex sync and Cloud sync would be useful in Aus…
