I am travelling to USA and I am wondering if anyone knows if I buy a laptop can I use it in Australia? I know the power supply is different but I thought maybe there is some way around it.

The difference is all in the wall-plug since laptops have traditionally used by business travellers.
yeah, power supply is the least of your worries. Just get a converter from jaycar. Also have a research into warranty, because some brands won't allow cross world warranty, others will. Otherwise each time you have an issue, you have to ship it back to US

Do keep in mind quality can be different. Strangely any laptop I've purchased in America for a friend has generally died just after warranty. The Vaio we bought in Japan is still going (not ours again). I sometimes get the feeling that america gets crap but they don't really mind because stuff is cheaper they don't mind dishing out in 2-3 years time again.
More often than not, the label on laptop power supplies says "input 100-250v" - meaning the only real issue would be the wall-plug. Then you'd just need one of those AU-US adapters, or get a cloverleaf/figure 8 cable at a local computer shop or even big w/ow/ebay/hn/dse etc.
If not, then I'm sure you could find one of those universal laptop power supplies, plus there is usually an abundance of specific power supplies on eBay for low cost.
