I'm travelling to hk in a few days and was thinking of upgrading my flight to either premium economy of business
Premium Econ cost 25k points to upgrade and Business cost 40K points
both has a 40kg checked luggage limit.
I wont be using the lounge
in light of that, is business a lot better in terms of sleep, food, etc?
or can you sleep in premium econ?

Im over 6ft, having flown both classes a lot with qantas I can say the only time I can sleep on premium economy is on the A380. It's quite doable then, but definitely not like business.
go business, less passengers per toilet too :)
when flying to HK (which is a relatively short flight) I either fly business or normal economy - premium isn't worth the points upgrade.. would much rather fly business one way and economy the other than both legs premium economy
As per others here I would recommend business also.
The only issue is leaving the upgrade to such a late stage is you probably won't get one unless you're a platinum frequent flyer as there is always high demands for upgrades.
I go to HKG twice year in business class, the seat, the food and the excellent lounges are worth every cent, extra luggage allowance is handy too. The problem is once you do it, going any other way is awful. If not the A380 book the seat in the 747 upper, it has only 20 of the latest MK11 seats, its own loo and galley, very cosy indeed. One tip on way back, check your luggage into the Kowloon station airport express check in saves carting it to the airport.
We travelled last year on business class to hk. Excellent food and service. Travelling with 3 kids, they were all looked after very well. I won't go anything less than business class.

Definitely, I think most flights to Hong Kong are on the A330 which has the flat bed, its sloped but its still a lot more comfortable than the upright seats in premium. Food is also a big step up, I'd say its worth the upgrade
