SoftLayer is offering $250 off in the first billing period for any new server in their new Melbourne data center. I had a discussion with their support agents who confirmed there's no lock-in contract associated with the coupon. Theoretically it should be possible to use the coupon to snatch a free server for a month. If you decide to do that, be aware you need to cancel several days before the billing renew date to prevent being charged.
Be aware there are overage charges for bandwidth I would highly recommend avoiding that oz-bargain instinct in you if you have no experience in managing servers. Best to skip this deal in that case least you wind up with a massive bill.
