What Is a MacBook Air Mid 2011 11inch i7 Worth?

Hi guys, I recently upgraded to a Macbook Pro and I have my old Macbook Air to get rid of. Its a specced out Mid 2011 Macbook air 11 inch, with an i7 and 256gb SSD. It is still quick and the battery is in good shape. The laptop is in great condition, with the only problem being a single pixel that sometimes sticks (from when it was new) and the right arrow key sometimes sticks for a second. Aesthetically it is perfect, and I have taken good care of it. What do you guys think it is worth? Im going to put it on eBay.

  • Not sure exactly how much, but I've kept track of prices of many of my Apple Macs over the years and I would say you could sell it for about 20-30% of what you paid without too much hassle.

  • I'm very interested in purchasing a Macbook, could you please message me your eBay listing so I can have a look? Thanks!

    • Don't have one yet, but it is as described

      Here are the specs

      http://support.apple.com/kb/sp631

It has been configured to the i7 processor and 256gb SSD, it has 4gb ram. I think it was about $2000 back when I bought it.

$2000 back when I bought it.

Then you got ripped off or have a bad memory

My 13" was less than $1400 and a new Macbook Air with same specs as yours, is listed at A$1,299.00

        • one could argue that you also got ripped off :)

        • For an i7 with 256gb in 2011?

        • +1

$2000 in 2011 sounds about right.

        • Rocky raccoon, mine is an i7, not an i5

      • Yep … typing right now on the same model (just 13inch) and it was around 2000$ (RAM, SSD, and i7 processor was all upgrades back in 2011). Most likely the battery will be not that great anymore and might need replacing.

Should go for around $600 to $700 depending on condition and location.

  • $150.00

  • Between 400-600 depending on end time of auction

    • What end time do you recommend?

      • Definitely evenings probably after 8.30pm that gives people a chance who are busy at work

  • Maybe learn how to search ebay with advanced search

    http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=MacBook+Air+Mid+2011+…

Beside the search button there is an "advanced" option.

Type in the search term and then click on "competed listings"

and your research will give you an idea of what similar items just sold for

    • Cheers, so based on auctions of i7s with 256gb, it looks to be worth at least $600. The closest match sold for over $600 and that had an aftermarket SSD.

      • That seems reasonable. Your best bet is to have a $0.99 + $25 postage 7 day auction starting on a Sunday and finishing on the following Sunday around 9pm. I have done this several times and have sold my MacBooks for decent prices on eBay.

  • I can't believe that ebay doesn't allow you to set a reserve these days.

  • Cheers for all the advice in this thread, I ended up selling it for $709 on ebay! So I bought a macbook pro retina with the 10% off deal at Myer and I used my commonwealth bank points. It brought the $2999 computer down to $2400. After my $700 ebay sale and tax back, Ill actually be ahead in 3 years time, so Im going to get payed to buy my next Macbook pro! Deal of the century!

    • Congrats! Good to here you sold it for a reasonable price. I'm sure your new Macbook Pro is an excellent upgrade :)
