ATAR and Uni interstate - rules

Hi everyone, hope to get some information here. My daughter has graduated fron high school in NSW but is trying for uni in SA as family has moved interstate.

How is her ATAR calculated for uni in SA? I understand that her result is calculated based on NSW ATAR bucket. Should her HSC result be included for ATAR calculation into SA ATAR bucket?

If anyone can clarify this moment it will be very much appreciated! Thank u

I thought that was the point of ATAR, everyone got one so that all states were using the same standardised numbering system.

might be a good place to start.

I'd get onto the uni's admission pages ASAP. I bet they'll have a fee structure similar to nsw.

  • As far as I understand, the ATAR was introduced to be able to give a national score. The only state which is different is QLD. So a VIC ATAR of X is the same as a NSW ATAR of X.

Back in my day, each state was different, so the NSW guys got UAIs, the VIC guys got ENTERs…etc. So we had to convert it between each different state.

  • Ah, ok. Thank you for the links. Hopefully will get some answers.thank u guys

Found this one. Yes, it is the same across the states ex Queensland.
    Thank you!

  • Its the same but the only different are prerequisites for example in Victoria there is Further Maths and Maths Methods but in NSW/SA they may call it "Maths 4" or something, I'm not sure.

  • Yes, they call it Extention 1-2-3-4…
