Optus Grandfathered Plan Does Not Work on 4G!

Hi,
I've just had confirmation that the Optus prepaid cap aka the woolies mobile plan is not 4G-enabled and will never be 4G-enabled.

The plan beakdown is as follows for the :

$26 recharge

  • $30 Credit,
  • $220 MyBonus,
  • $250 Optus Money

$44 recharge

  • $50 Credit
  • $450 MyBonus
  • $500 Optus Money

Both plans also include up to 5GB of Data within Oz and long expiry date of 45 days.

So what is everyone who is or was on that sweet plan doing?

Too sweet a deal to give up. I'll just have to live with 3G :(

Jumping ship for sure! Where to, though?

  • I've heard that you CAN get 4G access on this WW plan, all you need is a 700LTE enabled phone.. ie IPhone 6, 6+ , Samsung Galaxy 5, HTC One M8, etc.. The same principle def works for the 2 dollar days 3G ready plan as i can get unlimited 4G on mine, but on another sim i have i can't get it at all, so don't really know what to make of it..
Can anyone else confirm if they can access 4G on Woolies Mobile or $2 days 3G ready with a 700LTE enabled handset ?

    • If that's the case then you'll need to be in a 700MHz enabled area.

  • So there is no workaround to stay on the woolies plan and get 4G? :(

    • sadly, no.

it would be awesome if they did though!
