Steam [Hidden Daily Deal] Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - ($6) 80% off for 45 More Hours

770

This game is heavily discounted as part of the Steam Winter Sale, however, is not a featured game probably due to Metal Gear Solid V.

About This Game
Developed by Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE takes the renowned METAL GEAR franchise into exciting new territory with an all-new action experience. The game seamlessly melds pure action and epic story-telling that surrounds Raiden – a child soldier transformed into a half-human, half-cyborg ninja who uses his High Frequency katana blade to cut through any thing that stands in his vengeful path!

A huge success on both Xbox 360® and PlayStation®3, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE comes to PC with all the famed moves and action running within a beautifully-realised HD environment.

This new PC version includes all three DLC missions: Blade Wolf, Jetstream, and VR Missions, in addition to all customized body upgrades for Raiden, including: White Armor, Inferno Armor, Commando Armor, Raiden’s MGS4 body, and the ever-popular Cyborg Ninja.

Great game and awesome price, thanks OP.

Also, Amazon has the game for exactly the same price.

    • According to 3/4 people in the answers, this game is region locked from the US. It might not be available to purchase

      • I bought it no problems…

      • Amazon have been doing that, pain in the butt. The only game I've had issues with is Beyond Earth, though laziness has stopped me from trying another method :)

I was recently told that Steam has region locked (just before this big Xmas auction) anything from Russia, EU, Sth America - so it can't be traded with Aussies, Americans, etc. How true this is I'm not sure, certainly I've put it to the test today with NuuVem and had no issues.

  • Thanks OP

  • damn you steam… stop taking my money

Wow I didn't know this was a hidden deal, hopefully people keep posting these. I was lucky this was on my wishlist and got an email saying it was discounted.

  • Any personal recommendations from anyone who's played this before?

I loved it, it has extremely satisfying combat and the story actually wasn't that bad. I played it nonstop until I was finished. You should get it :)

It's pretty rad. Liking the Metal Gear franchise is a bonus, as it is splattered with fan service (as most Platinum games are). However, it REALLY ISN'T a Metal Gear game, so don't go in thinking you're going to get a slow paced politcal commentary.

But if you like Bayonetta or Wonderful 101, this game does what all Platinum games do best! Hackin' and slashin'! Plus, LOOK AT HOW MANY PIECES I CAN CUT THIS WATERMELON INTO!!!! 10/10, watermelon slicing simulator 2013. The combat and location-based cutting is absolutely perfect. Plus, Raiden is actually a cool and likable character for once!

However, con, it's a little bit short. 4 hours if you rush but 6 hours for most playstyles. And the story makes no shred of sense. There are also RPG elements in the game that don't quite hit their mark like they would in other Hack N' Slash games.

But overall I would say it was well worth the 32 bucks I paid ages ago, so it's a steal for this price.

      Nanomachines, son.

Half-cyborg ninja fighting robots with nanomachines thrown in? SOLD!

      Thanks for the reviews!

  • +3

25 gig download?!?!?! That's a lot of giant ninja nanotech robots with lasers and watermellons! Yay!!

    • +1

25 gig is average, battlefield 4 is also a massive 45gb+ download once you factor in the DLC

    • +2

Lasers? I think you mean OBSCENELY OVERSIZED SWORDS!!! And how are they able to hold up such gigantic swo-

      NANOMACHINES, SON!!!!

Also don't forget the cow robots with really, really, erotically effeminate legs……

      Japan… Is strange…….

      (Howistherobot'slegssoeffeminateyouguesseditnanomachines)

      • Hmmm…obscenely oversized swords, erotic cow legs…I wonder if he's compensating for something? :)

Or is it just Frank that thought the cow legs were erotic. :D

Just bought it, probably never play it…. lol

  • Looks really cool, but had a look at some reviews and they stated that the game length is around 4-5 hours, which seems on the low side.

Can anyone here that's played it care to comment on the length?

    • +1

According to how long to beat it's roughly 6.5 hours just for the main story, even if it was only 4-5hrs, it's $6. So the value for money ratio is pretty good.

      • Cheers.

Well I did get close to 50 hours for $2.50 (Just Cause 2), so my benchmark for value for money is probably even higher than the average ozbargainer :)

  • too lazy to play it but got it anyway. it's really good

IMHO MGS was the best game on the old play station, the version where in the end fight you gotta button mash while getting choked (I cant recall its name or what PS it was on, does anyone know this).

Its the only game I ever bothered playing again & again on all difficulty settings and taking the extra time playing each level just to get all the dog tags dropped from the baddies, but it was SO worth it to get the unlimited ammo bandana & stealth suit, ahh the bloody good old days.

Thanks OP, I will get this, just hope I can play it on my old old pc.

PS1 Metal Gear Solid there was the torture scene you had to button mash to survive.

PS2 Sons of Liberty you had to button mash to catch your breath from that bald (profanity) - maybe Big Boss…? The story-lines really got blurred for me with so much content, awesome though they were.

PS2 Snake Eater another button mashing for a torture scene. This game was certainly the best IMO.

      • Thanks heaps for the info, I guess they loved the button mashing thing as you pointed out.
the PS1 was the small white console yeah?, damn crap memory.

I had the last (or 2nd last) grey console model before the PS1 came out if I recall correctly, as it had the expansion card slot at the back, god I miss the old days of cheating with the action replay cartridge.

I think it was the only game I completed without cheating.

  • It's $7.50 for it now
