Choosing LG G2 (32GB) over LG G3 (16GB) ?

Both have 2gb RAM and same camera. G2 has better runtime battery life.
G3 is bit bigger to handle for me so I am thinking of G2 (32gb).

What is best price range for G2 (32gb)?

What is your opinion about choosing LG G2 (32gb) over LG G3 (16gb) if I am concern about the bigger size of G3?

Thanks guys.

  • of course g3.
only for few weeks you will feel it big, after that, you want bigger phone!
nothing over 6" is too big

nothing over 6" is too big

      "That's what she said"

Anyway, agree with you there, I thought the note 2 was too big compared to the S3 before I was given one… Now I actually prefer the bigger phones.

      • another thing is battery life….reading some reviews on various forums it seems G2 battery life is much better than G3.

G3 - better screen, better processor, slightly better camera
G2 - better battery life, solid phone

You should be able to get a G2 around 320-350 for a 32GB version with local warranty.
There was a recent deal on G3 for $500.

  • LG G2/G3 user here. Much longer battery life with G2, and you won't have brightness issues like G3. In fact, you can actually use it outside in the sun with high brightness (without overheating the phone as with G3). Still using Jelly Bean. Don't upgrade to KitKat (a bit snappier but buggy); wait for Lollipop OTA update.

As for G3, if you aren't going to get overseas 3GB RAM version, forget about it. My experience with 3GB version has been much better (less lag) and absolutely problem-free (except for brightness issues) than with 2GB/16GB variety.

Well I am using a G2 and recently bought a G3 (2g/16g) for my mom and I absolutely recommend the G2 even with minimal price difference:

    1. Screen is better on G2 other than pixel density. It's brighter, has way better contrast & saturation, has the best black level of an IPS panel. I mean whoever says the G3 has better screen simply bought into the marketing gimmick. 400+ppi on G2 vs 500+ppi on G3 is really just a number game. The only exception being when you view 1440p content on youtube you might notice a little advantage on those extra dots.

    2. Battery is way better on the G2 (One of the best if not the best). G3 is a tad above average.

    3. Form factor. I guess this is subjective. 5.5inch is too big with one hand operations and also the G3 is noticeably bulkier.

    4. Speed. Snapdragon 801 is a mere 5% upgrade to the 800. Yet you are drving a 2k screen with it. LG also implemented a lot of throttling to the SoC due to heat emission. Best case scenario, the G3 is as fast as the G2.

    Pros on the G3 though

    1. Slightly better camera but tbh both G2 & G3 are lacking behind to even an S4.
    2. Micro SD slot, removable battery. Again it's subjective.
    3. Quicker upgrade to Lollipop. Only this time though, the next one is going to be slow for both of them (if the G2 ever gets it).

I guess the price is also a deciding factor to it since paying $70 extra for the 'latest gen' is a no brainer. Well at least it happened to my mom.

  • I'd personally take the G2. The screen is much better, the bezels are slimmer and the size is more manageable. The battery life is better and speaker position is better. It's also faster, due to the 1080p resolution. It's also much cheaper

The G3 is much nicer looking and feeling, although I would just slap a metal case onto the G2. It also has a removable battery and micro SD slot. The speaker is better, one of the best on any phone. It shoots 4K video. It's not expensive, but the G2 delivers better bang for your buck.

  • Thanks a lot guys, so I will go with LG G2.

    rv2885 above mentioned :
"You should be able to get a G2 around 320-350 for a 32GB version with local warranty."
I cannot find it in this price range + local warranty.

    But best I can see : LG G2 D802 4G LTE (32GB) for $389 + shipping from Kogan
    http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=LG%20G2%2032gb&…

    Please let me know.

    • I don't think you will find it in that price range.

    • G3 was $420 on the recent dicksmith deal.. If you can find one.

      • I think OP is looking for LG G2 D802 4G LTE (32GB)

        • If a G2 is 389+shipping = 409 which isnt aus stock, and the g3 is 420 which is aus stock and 2 years warranty, I think it's a no brainer to get a G3..

        • You are taking about 16gb g3 for 420….but if u read reviews above 32gb g3 is a better buy.

        • @thehillsgirl:

Yes, but in his origibal post, it was between G2 (32GB) and G3 ****(16GB)****

  • -3

i'd go a china droid for half the price. because you are going to smash the screen or want a different phone in 12months time any way.

  • Is LG G2 really has high number of crack screen issues?

    • No, unless you dropped the phone you shouldn't have any screen cracking issues.

  • In my opinion, G2 is better when compared to G3. G2 is very handy to use and I love the UI of my G2.

I have loaded lot of movies and songs in my mobile, only 2GB of storage is available out of 32GB. Still working fast with good battery life.
