$9 for a Tray of Calypso Mangoes @ Coles World Square Sydney

370

Coles World Square are clearing out their trays of Calypso Mangoes for $9.00. It is good value. Except, just to give you the heads up, do not use the checkout as they tried to charge $45. Use the self checkout machines, they are quicker and more efficient. My mate used the machine and had no problems with the checking out. The "people" checkout try to charge you significantly more and they will hold up the lines of other customers etc to do a price check, wastes your time as a customer as well. Despite having massive signs. There were still plenty when we were there at lunch time. It's good value if you can find a decent tray. There are at least 6 columns of them stacked up. Just unstack the higher trays where the quality of the mangoes are not the best and take the boxes from below, they seem to have their nice colour etc as mangoes should be. I hope this is helpful.

Unsure if this is happening at other Coles stores around the country.

All aboard the COLES ROCKET! next stop ACCC

    • I was just about to make a rocket joke, but you beat me >.<

    • This is what I'm like when I see mangoes

    • We are talking about Ryan, right?

  • Went to Coles World Square on Sunday. Their mangoes were almost rotten, especially their Kensington mangoes.

    • These are very ripe, but will be fine to eat in the next 3 days. There are 14 in a box, so you need to really like mangoes or have a family to feed ;-)

        Smooooothies!

Definitely check the cases lower down. The top ones are brown and over-ripe. I got mine 1 above floor level!

  • Thanks, bought a tray! Down to two columns of trays. Not many decent ones left.

  • Does anyone know if this is Australia wide?

It's nowhere near the Lindt Café!

Can you please tell me what a tray of juicy mangoes has to do with the tragic events of the Lindt Cafe? I see absolutely no relevant connection. Perhaps you would kindly educate me?

I would have though anyone using Ozbargain would know about the "Code of Practice For Computerised Checkout Systems In Supermarkets 2004" (http://www.anra.com.au/Scanning%20Code%20of%20Practice%20for…) and gotten the items for free if scanned in at $45/tray

If you saw the lines at World Square Coles, after having them price check etc, the $9 saves alot of other people's time that are in line as well. It was a terrible experience as the customer service person was unfriendly and rude about the pricing situation. Paying the $9 saved my time and also the time of all the other individuals lining up within my checkout line. Hence, the heads up provided with using the self-checkout being recommended on my initial post. There was no greeting nor was there a "thank you". Just didn't want to waste any more time dealing with Coles to be frank. With that, I do not recommend using "people" checkout there, please use the "self checkout" - to avoid their poor/weak service. The treatment felt like I was stealing from them as oppose to their pricing on the shelves, which was clearly marked on the cases. Terrible experience. Consideration for others in the line was pretty much my priority and also to save my time on the matter.

If your worried for everyone elses time and not saving an additional $9, then thats a fair call.

I was just making sure it is known that there is a code of practice, which coles, woolworths, bi-lo and franklins are signatories to, which would enable you to get the item for free if the wrong price came up when scanned*.

I myself can put up with an unfriendly/rude customer service rep to get something for free, and if the people behind me really get frustrated by waiting for me to be served correctly, they can always go and use the self checkouts. I guess I would be, in a roundabout way, doing them a favor by driving them to the self serve checkouts, away from the nasty staff.

Coles World Square, massive amounts of traffic during lunch time and after work due to the commercial building as well as the residential building towers. Very poorly trained staff, made a call that my time and the time of others in the line was worth more than $9. Thanks though for the code of practice.

@deal junkie: I'm guessing that your experience there may have spurred them to better service - I went through the self serve checkout and the staff member there saw me coming with the tray and had the machine setup for $9 mangoes by the time I got to it.

    how much for shipping?

  • Go for other varieties. Calypso look great but don't have the nice flavor of other types like KP. I've worked around them long enough

  • Meh, got a whole tray for $5 at Sunnybank in Queensland :) would of shared the deal but very limited trays available

For reference this was in market square not Coles
