Beautiful Power Bank Delta's design is amazing and really stands out from any other power packs out there. i can recharge my Galaxy S5 twice before it runs out of juice. my only issues is the ihope label on the device, but that doesn't detract from the beautiful design.

Get Xiaomi instead, more capacity and faster charging.

      and cheaper ;)

All this talk on how it won a design award and yet it is a solid colour block with a black corner (and ribbon cable down the spine).
I am absolutely shocked that this won given the far better looking Xiaomi 5200/10400mAh, not to mention Xiaomi's build quality and materials and they (Xiaomi) are even cheaper.

Maybe it was one of the blokes that painted one of these that designed it making it somehow 'art' http://www.artsumo.com/blog/post/4/They_Paid_What_Top_10_Abs…

    • Agreed, but the built-in cable is pretty cool.

      I really like the design!
But PissLUR had it right, just too expensive for a 6,000mah power bank (although it is a Li-Po battery)

The Xiaomi 10400 mah power bank uses regular 18650 batteries (Cylindrical lithium-ion rechargeable). That's why they can keep costs down. You can also build your own power bank, like I did mine with a Ruinovo enclosure.

The enclosure cost me $10 and the batteries cost me nothing — I salvaged them from a dead Acer laptop battery. Now that's ecofriendly and economical. IBM scientists in India do the same thing.
When the batteries do eventually die on me I can simply source genuine LG/Sanyo batteries cheaply from Fasttech.

The Lithium polymer (pouch format) is of a non standard size and it has to be custom-made for this particular power bank so that it is thin — basically you're paying for the form factor.

Very true, but when it comes to something like a battery bank a small amount of leeway needs to be given to make it more effective.
Awesome to hear about the DIY battery bank, sadly I don't have any old laptop batteries but great idea for the future.

    • Spoken like a true Ozbargainer!

    • goddammit that article makes me so confused and angry.

Well, the IF Design award have been around for 60years, I assume they would know a thing or 2 about design.
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IF_product_design_award

A known fact that Xiaomi copies Apple's design (http://www.cultofandroid.com/66569/xiaomi-dont-copy-apple/), which I think isn't a bad thing.

Plus, the battery pack sort of resemble Apple's Ipod Mini (https://www.google.com.au/search?q=ipod+mini&safe=strict&bih…) —similar design language.

On that premise, I don't think they'll be nominated for any design awards.

But I agree, I like Xiaomi's design better..

Milkr Delta's design is quite refreshing, price targeted between the affordable Xiaomi and the expensive Morphie (http://www.mophie.com/shop/universal-batteries) ones maybe? I'm sure someone in this forum would appreciate a bright blue coloured battery pack, thanks rep.
